OK, so like I said in a earlyer post about problems with the revs gas guauge, here is what I did. Drilled 2 holes (gas tank porting :D ) added rubber insert and a fuel line all in the exterior of the gas tank just like the good old days. I emptyed the tank, then poured 1 gallon, added a zip tie where the fuel showed in the fuel line, added another gallon again marking where the fuel was with a zip tie, did this for every gallon of fuel. I know you can't see the zip ties on the pic because I took those pic from my sled and I still didn't put the zip ties, but my brother did on his 04 rev. Anyway, this guage might not look fancy, but the fuel level is bang on.

Electric fuel guauge 180$
poor mans guauge 7$
not running out of gas priceless

BTW, the max content of the gas tank is 9 gallons thats with all the air sucked out.

Hey, that works but make sure to change the rubber seal every so often especially the bottom one BECAUSE that bottom hole will empty a full take pretty quick :bash:

Gotta admire your ability to drill holes in a pretty much brand new sled :p

Both your ideas are very innovative and practical though...

nice idea, but I think that I would rather count my km than drill into the tank.

That's pretty cool, but the way I ride, I'd tear that hose off within a week. Me, I just set the trip counter at every fill-up. When it gets to 100, I fill up and re-set.

why would it tear off, it's the same inserts as the fuel line for the carbs? if those didn't tear off, these won't, and beleive me, my sled takes a beating everytime I take it for a spin, I rolled it a couple of times also.

Good idea. Hey they still use sight tubes on boilers and they're under pressure. Sure looks like it takes the guess work out of the poopy Doo gauge. Using the odometer when your boon dockin and trail riding can be a crap shot. I've used a tank up before and only gone 75-100km.

Good idea. I went the big buck route. I bought a gade and the little extra gas can :)

you mean my 81 Kaw will leak the fuel out from rough trails,LOL. still has the factory fittings and rubber. by the way did you make sure their pat. was expired :lmao: . nice fix. guys remember they had those long ago with good results, new tech is better on most but the rev got shafted.

YUP! Same on my '79 Invader and '87 Exciter - never touched them but they DO need new lines now (they're so dark I can't hardly see the fuel level anymore). Send me your extra hoses Jeepster! :D
Those mechanical gauges on Doo's, well, that fell to the wrong engineering group I guess. :bash:

Cheers,
