Just spent a week in Welland Ontario. Went to Beida's Powersports in Fenwick. Henry Beida holds 2 water skipping records as many of you know. Just figured I'd post a pic of his sled "Wally" which he rode to make those records.

Did it say how big the sled cc was. He also must of had to have a big track to keep that thing floating. When did he make those records?

that bieda's is a well equipped place complete with there own man made lake so they can road test sea-doo's. they call it lake bieda and i was there when the world speed record was set for watercrossing. the sled was some sort of triple Doo with nitrous. he was cruising along at about 70 mph when he hit the nitrous i thought the sled was going to do go right over backwards.

The crossing was in '88. I'm not sure what the engine was though.

The Crossing of Lake Ontario was a 521 Plus engine

the old welland canal run he installed a 583 into it

the sled is a 85 or 86 Formula SS

I have some footage on tape here of both events :)

Here's an article from a recent Peterborough Examiner. Had anyone heard about this other attempt?
