Went to an auction this morning to try and buy a 1970 GTO Judge. *It was pepper green, ram air iii, 4 speed, 76,000 miles on it. *It would best be described as a driver. *Right front fender and right rear quarter each were dented looked like the moron backed it into a garage door frame or something. *The right front fender had also been replaced (didn't line up right) and the front nose had been replaced. *The rest of the body was good *with just a little surface rust here and there in the usual spots and the interior was about perfect. *Overall I would say the car was in #3 condition. *That condition should sell for around 13-14 thousand. *Needless to say I did not get the car. *Guess how much it brought.

I have found auctions are as unpredictable as race horses, or winston cup drivers, I bet it went for 20 grand.
Some people are just nuts and bid crazy on vehicles like this. I can't see a car in that condition going for more that 9 to 10 grand.
Here os a pic of my T/A that I bought for $5150 4 years ago. It only has 46K on it. Did I score or what? *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

If nothing is "exactly" perfect, *does it have the original motor? *if not it is not worth mint money.

All the drive train was original. *The winning bid ended up being $18,300. *6000 dollars more than what it should have sold for. *The winning bid came from a guy in California over the phone.

Just goes to prove my belief, books don't set prices for cars (or anything as far as that goes), an item's value is only determined by what someone is willing to pay for it; *other people's opinion of it's value mean nothing if they're not a buyer.
