I am getting ready to weld in ports on the Y pipe for EGT probes on my 01 MXZ 800. I was curious if anyone knew what type of paint Ski Doo used on the exhaust components. Of all the manufacturers, I think that the paint on Ski Doo's exhaust components seems to hold up the best.

I may be going out on a limb here, but could it be a paint similiar to what is used for painting wood stoves?

I've never had much success duplicating their paint when I've painted expansion chambers or Y pipes myself.

I tried using wood stove/BBQ paint, and it peeled off within an hour. *I'm thinking of moving my probes a 1/2 inch closer to the cylinders due to unusually high readings (1400+...plugs and wash are fine), so I didn't bother repainting.

Surface prep probably helps too. A paint guy told me to use lacquer thinner to remove any oils etc.
