What is the best way to set up for 660' drags.. get your rpm's at max torque or max hp,is it good to over rev a little.. or just try to stay in the power band..thanks

torque

Clutch it to the torque curve. It will force the clutches to shift out faster. Lots of success at snowdrags clutching to the torque curve.

i know a guy who bought a racing comp. that is set up for 660 ft. in a stock f7 with twohundred and something pics he is running about 95. that is in the stock 700 class. i think he may have geard down also. but the only down fall to the comp is that after 700ft of wfo it will lean your motor out too much and kill it.

What do you mean lean your motor to much..is that with a 1/4 race ecu or a 500' one,ore do you mean got the engine looded up to much..makeing it work hard at the peak torque rpm? Is it easer to clutch when the hp & torque are very close..like max torque is at 7600 and the hp peak is at 7800.

its set up to lean your engine out thus giving you more power at the higher rpm's. it is for racing only. when running wfo it leans your gas oil mix way out.

you have to watch out when you lean your motor out too much, leaning the motor out does not always mean more power, and sometimes will slow you down at the end of the track too just something to think about, and something i have learned over time

I concur...
My 440 gobbles fuel, I run with fatter jets than most after being on an Inertia dyno.
I even run pilots that are 15 sizes over stock to help the engine get off the line with more BANG!...
I also run my engine at 7900~8000 rpms. My peak hp is at 8400.

It is not uncommon for engines to have peak torque from 450 to 550 rpms below known power peak rpms depending on pipe temperature.

Zog, any feedback from what you been doing up there?
