I'm thinking about extending the rails on my 2002 mxz 500 to change it from a 121" to a 136". I've looked at rail extensions on the internet. anyone have experience with this? how do they hold up? I don't plan on catching massize air, just casual ditch banging and powder riding.

I used Tracks USA extensions for my conversion, excellent product and service. The fit was perfect and they permit a longer slider. I'd recommend them.
I haven't beat on mine too much yet, but they sure do bolt on and look solid!

I have about 3000km on my rail extensions and not a problem. I used the kit from ski-doo.

i've got about 2500 km's on mine, with some hard landings and still rockin.you'll like the longer track, especially in the U.P.

I'm real happy with my TracksUSA rail extensions. I really like the way they use the longer slides, not just move the wheels back.
You may need to firm up your rear springs also, I had to.

cool thanks guys.
didn't think about the springs. makes sense. I probably would have figured it out though.
I'm looking at the 136" from tracks USA. They look like a good solid product. I like the fact that they extend the slides as well. Then put a 1.75" track on it. Can't wait to get going on this project.
Should put that lousy .875" track to shame in the powder. I'm getting tired of digging the sled out. though I guess now when I bury it, I'll bury it nice and deep. :D

i used track usa,s ext and 1.25 snowcross track on my 500. the ext,s needed a bit of work to make the fit . i had to file my rail ends so they fit . doo stamps there rails so there are some variances .also besides springs you will want to gear down . i drop 1 tooth on the top lost a bit on top end , but it sure has the low end pull . the only thing i might add is some studs in the middle just a tick higher then the lug ht just enough for some bite on the ice (icey corners and ice packed roads were a bit scarey). all in all i love it just got back from the paridise area yesterday and cant wait to get back up there to play in the deep stuff.

thanks, I'm not really concerned too much with top end, so gearing down might be a good idea to pull all of that extra traction. On the studs I might throw some in. The current track is studded. It does make a difference.
