Alright I wil sum up as Quick as possible

Sled was running great, stopped at camp for 1-15 min and went to fire it up again. Wouldn't start, held the throttle,, wouldn't start. I am not quite a newbie but not far removed. I decided to prime it even though it shouldn't need it. It started but Idled way low... hit the gas and died. repeated for awhile then got it running a 100 yds, died. Changed plugs, same response, Finally got it running again and in order to get it moving I had to prime and throttle at the same time, if I stopped moving it died. Tried running for a while to see if it was gas freeze up.

Then we went on a limping 5 mile route and it ran fine up to 40 then it would rev up and down at a constant throttle and still dies when I stop. I parked it loaded and called it a weekend. others put in the same gas as me so I don't think it was gas. Also checked the teather, it was on.

Before the season I had the carbs cleaned and one was pretty bad, fuel line was cleaned but I am not sure if he cleaned out the tank. Sorry about the book but there it is, anyone up to the challenge?

Sounds like frozen air bleed jet at the back of the carb inlet bell. Were you sledding in powder ?. Possibly your sled injested some powder which usually sits in the bottom of the air box. When you stopped the underhood temperatures rise, melting the snow in the box and it runs down into the air bleeds at the back of the carbs and freezes. The best way to prevent this occurrance is to install a secondary air filter which is capable of trapping fine powder before it finds its way into the airbox. Using iso gas line antifreeze helps too.

24" on a lake that nobody knows about so it was all clear and powder. I put about 20 miles trail on afterwards and a few stops but it sounds about right, I was using a gas line antifreeze though. It was cold up there to 10 and -10 F for H & L's.

thanx doc, warmed it up in my garage and put in some iso,, ran about 50 miles around the house and no more problems. I will have to look into the secondary filter,, we are in powder a lot on forestry roads. Hope you had a good run Paul.
