tough poll. I depends on how I feel and/or who I'm ridding with.

With my wife, slow(very slow http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif ) *and sceenic

With my daughter - handle bars rubbing, snow in face competition. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

With my buds, depends on the group. sometimes fast sometimes slow. I go on trips for 1000's of miles. Can't race full out on unknown trails.

Tough one. *I would have to say speed freak on the wide straights, but them when riding with a large group, or unknown trails, its more scenic....

Try to ride with the conditions, the crowd and the time of day.
More likely to go balls out at night when you can see headlights coming.

I go balls out till about 70 then I realize what I am doing and usually cruise at about 40 if with my parents, or 60 if with my friends *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

who I am with. *etc * * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *What trails are you riding *I havent seen any snow on the trails in months. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm one of the slowpokes. *I like to get out and enjoy the scenery. *Of course, I don't get to get out and go sledding often enough to get comfortable with higher speeds.

Your missing a style. *The guys I ride with and I like to ride the trail through the river valley(only place you can find hills in ND) and we spend most of our time climbing the hills and jumping. *Otherwise we are average speed on the trails is around 40-50.

ZR, it's for your riding style. *Climbing and jumping is toying around when you're bored. LOL * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

it depends... i tend to be on the fasterside... it used to go fast at night too till i got a good scare and had a deer jump over the front of my sled with me on full brake scared the #### out of me when i was goin about 75 saw eyes and naild the brakes i cliped his leg with the ski and tripped him *i think i went about 25 the rest of the way home.. so it really does depend on weather and condit i think most of us are the same with this one

Arcticzrt600 *I really do think we are bored all the time. *There is no such thing as senery in ND or at least around here. *Its all flat and the only trees are planted in rows around the farms. *Its time for a change. *I think we are going to make a big trip somewere this year if it snows. *Last year are plans fell through because of the lack of snow.

The majority of the time it's hammer down, skimming across the tops. *But I always listen to my gut feeliing, it never fails me. *If I feel like something isn't right, I back off for a while. *Last year my buddy was leading down a railroad bed about 100 mph and he slowed down due to that feeling...sure enough, we came around a blind curve and 3 sleds parked, one sled in the middle of the trail. *There would have been a lot of plastic flying if my buddy hadn't listened to that instinct.
Does anyone else get those feelings and they turn out to be right?

FishHog
08-13-2002, 12:55 PM
I do get those feelings, but I sure don't rely on them to tell me when to be cautious.

If heading at a blind curve at 100mph isn't reason enough to slow down (without a gut feeling), I hope I'm not riding around your buddy.

TallCool1
08-13-2002, 01:06 PM
Me too, especially if you're on my side of the trail. *Actually Fishhog, it was a long curve on a wide trail which is no problem if everyone is on their side of the trail. *Who said anything about relying on a gut feeling to be cautious, should be cautious all the time!

Sled smart boyz. Atleast we should. Even if you are a good rider which I am sure most of us are; you can still DIE on the trails without it being your fault. I belive it was 2 years a go that a guys that worked with my friend got killed by inexperiance; But not his. He was takeing a large long curve on the outside going about 70-100mph. Comeing the other way also on the outside was an inexperianced rider. Well you can just imagine what happen to the guys if I said that the two sleds were fusied together after that one.

So I guess the morle of that story is: Just because you are sober and driving safe you may still be in danger.

I must admit that I doo fit in the speed freak category but I still drive safe ( I know I might regret writing that). I'm always on my side of the trail (except for those long strech of nicely groomed trails) and I drive with the thought that if there was a tree across the trail, I could avoid it at all times, or at least 98% of the times... I consider myself as being in controle but not overcautious.

Just find a nice trail and put the black tap around the throttle to the handle bars and let her go. Watch out for thouse buggers that stop at the end of a corner. Man does that bug me.
