: Rx1 hp #s
M10rules 08-09-2002, 01:06 AM This is copied from Amsnow. I hope his dyno is off because this would be real bad for Yamaha!!!!!!!!!!
Local Yamaha dealer got in RX1 to set up for grass dragging in Central Ontario. Observations
Beautiful fit and finish except below
Storage box in front of engine with tools on top ala Cat and below looks like indents for two beers plenty of space.
Conical track, don''t know why they did not go with paddle track.
The front bumper is a total joke as you could not lift a kitty cat with it. This one already had stress cracks from dealer just moving it by bumper.
Sounds really sweet.
According to dealer hp on dyno no where near spring estimates. Supposedly even Bender after a few messages cannot get over 140 hp.
Mighty RX-1 08-09-2002, 01:11 AM what's a Conical track?
Machzzzz1 08-09-2002, 01:20 AM 140 HP, 610LB. *Shaping up to be a real Skandic LT EH Mighty RX-1 *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Sled Dogg 08-09-2002, 01:48 AM A conical track has round shaped lugs. They suck off trail and even on most trails. They are great for smooth groomed trails. Most trsil sled get them from cat I know.

Mighty RX-1 08-09-2002, 10:41 AM Thanks Caleb. *As far as you go machzzzz1, why do you seem so concerned with the RX-1 *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif You can slice it and dice it anyway you want but it's still lighter than the MachZ. *Better balanced and am betting it has a way better suspension especially up front. The CK-3 simply sucks and there is way too much weight in the nose. *Not to mention no travel in the front.
Sled Dogg 08-09-2002, 10:47 AM MightyRX-1,
* * *Like I've been saying, He secretly wanted one. Remember that mysterious"friend " that he has who bought one that he can "borrow anytime? You can come out of the closet Machzzzz1 or will it be RX1111? *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cheesy.gif

Machzzzz1 08-09-2002, 10:50 AM HEHEHE.
Well maybe after driving my friends this winter will I get a better opinion. *
The only reason that skidoo has made the nose of the Ck3 so heavy is so it would bite the corners as it goes into them hard.
Yamaha RX-1 is competition so it will be killed (CK3)
Good luck guys I hope your happy with it.. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
madsledhead 08-09-2002, 11:34 AM Just my opinion, but the CK3 is a real delight on trails.
Good weight distribution, feels real stable.
I don't know why people knock it, it's a great ride for aggressive trail running.
Mighty RX-1 08-09-2002, 12:18 PM apparently my 99 wasn't setup correctly then because it sure did suck. *The funny thing is that I didn't realize how bad it was until I rode my buddies mxzx. *Can you say night and Day?That was the last trip I made with my Mach. *I sold it the very next week. *After exaustive research I ordered a RX-1ER. *I figured that if the #### thing was gonna be heavier than the Mach, I needed reverse, funny how the RX-1 ended up being lighter than the mach. Don't get me wrong, I'm still pro Ski-doo. *If the RX-1 isn't nearly what I'm expecting I can see myself on a DI mxzX down the road. But not the REV. *I refuse to put my ### on something that Ugly. *I'm ugly enough.
PS, a guy on american snow is reporting that he for the first time got a chance to check out the RX-1 up close. *He lifted the front *and couldn't believe how light it was. After reading all the RX-1ton crap, he figured he'd blow out his back, not. *He commented on how far back the engine was placed to the rider and also thought there might be a problem with ski-lift because it was so light.
PSS, what color did you get Machz1111 http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
Machzzzz1 08-09-2002, 12:31 PM What are you saying that i sold my soal to the devil and bought a yamaha. *
I think not. *I think my buddies is blue, I dont know. *He's talking like its the best thing in the world. *Naw. *CK3 is still the way to got. *Best looking out of all the sleds IMO.
As for CK3 ride VS ZX. Well i have them both and i prefure the CK3 for long rides. *
As for the weight. *Trust me 610LB dry. *I lift my Mach Z out of the snow and on to a trailer i know what 583 LB feels like. *The RX-1 besides what the guy from AMSNOW said is just as heavy or heavier. *AMSNOW is just a place were the manufactors can pay for commercials. *Those test riders are the lowest form of life, they go around trying to kill them selfs. *And ive seen the pictures of all the rider and none of them could lift the front of a 400+ sled let alone a 600LB. *
Nope sorry to disapoint, but if they still sell 2 strokes, why by a less efficent power maker 4 stroke.
Mighty RX-1 08-09-2002, 01:04 PM It wasn't an american snow writer that said that about the RX-1, it was a guy like you and me posting on a thread.
performancex 08-09-2002, 02:32 PM There's a nice drawing of a conical track at http://www.camoplast.com/pred_ang.pdf
It's right on page 2.
performancex 08-09-2002, 02:38 PM Or here ya go, from tracksusa.com
Mighty RX-1 08-09-2002, 04:04 PM Anyone know how well this track will hold up studded?
Sled Dogg 08-12-2002, 02:21 AM mighty,
* Don't keep this track on your sled if you plan on hitting any powder or off groomed trails snow. Conicals suck in these situations. A 1' finger or paddle type track is what you'll want. And conical tracks can be studded the same as normal tracks.
caleb
louis 08-12-2002, 07:46 PM Is it possible the conical lugs are to help reduce track stress/cracking/tearing with all that low end torque.
800MXZ 08-12-2002, 09:52 PM I really will be happy when the snow flies and this #### thing is put to sleep. Put the hype away and see where the cards fall.
It will be heavy. No one denies that. It will have good power, no one denies that. It will be the 1st year for the product, and they always have problems 1st year, no one denies that. (I owned a 98 CK3, I know how that goes).
Heavy does not mean bad, in my book. As long as it's a trail sled, it doesn't hurt all that much. I had a 95 FIII 600, it weighed *like 580 lbs. It handled great though. Yes. My 500 lb ZX is easier to ride, but it doesn't carve like a C7 sled.
I just want to see the hype fall away and the truth be known. The 583 lb. weight is the official ISR weight, and to corrispond this, the 97 ZRT600 in 565 pls to the same book, and the Tcat is 580 lbs (i think) to the same book. This is a weight as is. As is to be raced. So it might as well be dry with about 1 gal of fuel in it.
We do not have long. haydays and hastings is around the corner.

FishHog 08-13-2002, 06:48 PM Yeah, but then Mighty and Machzzz will have to find something new to argue about.

revrnd 08-13-2002, 08:03 PM We'll know how the RX-1 is set up if the forums are inundated with RX-1 owners trying to get their sleds running or handling right http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
odoa4 08-15-2002, 12:13 AM 550 lbs is a heavy trail sled, but 580 lbs won't work in the powder. *I can't believe all of the people around here that ordered the mountain. *I bet I could pick one up real cheap about 1 month after the snow files. *
schu
revrnd 08-15-2002, 12:21 AM What's an average RMK/Summit weigh?
Sharkey 08-15-2002, 01:00 AM 485-515 dry. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
Sled Dogg 08-15-2002, 02:05 AM I can't believe they weigh that light when a xc weighs that.
Caleb
odoa4 08-15-2002, 04:45 AM My summitX 670 is 490 dry, and I just ordered a 900 Mountain Cat 144 and they say it weighs 495 dry.
So if you have sled A that is putting out 145hp at 8300 rpm that equals 91ftlbs of torque (HP = TQ x RPM /5252) @580lbs and sled B that is putting out 151hp at 7200 rpm that equals 110ftlbs or torque @495lbs then I am guessing that sled B is generally going to work better unless it is completely setup wrong. *Of course that doesn't take into account that the RX-1 defies the laws of physics.
Later,

slarson 08-15-2002, 06:53 PM I am not to sure if Yammie was truthful about the 5% dry weight difference between the RX-1 and SRX. According to all of the info on this site the figure for the RX-1's weight is 583 lbs dry, and according to Yamaha the 2002 SRX is 522lbs if both of these figures are correct their is a 12% weight difference. Now the SRX would really have to weigh 555lbs and the RX-1 583lbs to have a 5% wieght difference. So now if you bought an RX-1 comparing it to an SRX through Yamaha's literature you were expecting to get a sled that weighs 548lbs, a HUGE difference. The way I see the situation, not matter how you slice it Yamaha lied about its weight, and that is frustrating that the manufacturers have to be like politicians. I am sure it will be a good sled and I cant wait to try one (hopefully I will have the opportunity), but like the Viper Hype last year I am sure there will be some expectations that are not met for some riders.
jayjaysin 08-19-2002, 04:50 PM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif Good point. *There is a lie there somewhere. *Either with the SRX or the RX-1.
hauler 08-19-2002, 09:52 PM yamaha said 5% difference with both sleds full of fuel. THe srx has a 2 gallon bigger gas tank, therefore giving you another 15 pounds (roughly)
Two-Up 08-20-2002, 03:58 AM The SRX weighs 555pds. The RX-1 is 5% heavier. Same weight as a T-Cat 585pds give or take. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Sled Dogg 08-21-2002, 01:17 PM THIS THREAD WAS STARTED ABOUT HORSEPOWER NOT WEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
CALEB
slarson 08-21-2002, 05:34 PM So Caleb,
You indulged in a weight related post earlier by saying</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I can't believe they weigh that light when a xc weighs that.
Caleb
so whats the beef about this thread and an even headed discussion about the RX-1's weight? After all 7 lbs equals about one horsepower!
Sled Dogg 08-21-2002, 06:08 PM Shall I answer? I did weigh in pun intended. But we need to keep it in the correct thread. I'm starting a weight thread and you all can "Debate" it out.
Caleb
Steven Hohman 08-22-2002, 02:06 AM Good deal.
