I finally went riding against a new mach Z, we did every type of riding and heres what happened. As posted before my 2000 T-Cat has a brand new 2001 motor complete with CDI which does seen to run quite a bit better on the big end. My only mods are my 2000 BM clutch kit and track. The clutch kit works perfect. 8500-8600 RPM

It was -20C and sunny all day, The mach had just returned from it's first checkup and had 500 miles on it. It was picked with 96 picks, something about the factory holes. I now had 125 miles on my new motor. We rode 150 miles together that day.

On complete powder on the lakes (tons of snow, 2 ft trench) it was pretty close to even. I was usually pulling away with my speedo at 95-100 max. I thought he would kill me in the powder due to my new 3/4" lug camoplast racing track with 192 picks and the weight of my T-Cat. My new picked track also weighs 12 lbs more then the original. 36/48

On a meally 7 mile long groomed lake trail we started from a standstill, he jumped out in front, about 2 sled lengths. I started the race with my right hand (I gotta stop doing that). In no time at all, 5 seconds maybe, I caught up and passed him and pulled to about 115 max on my speedo and he was well back. We let off and on a few times and the results were still the same, I was always pulling away.

The best run was on a plowed ice road with very hardpacked snow on it. We started racing at around 40 mph and I just pulled away all the way. We had to let off for a small turn and then we were back on for about 15 seconds full. My speedo was at 125 and still climbing. The mach was well back, I couldn't really tell how far as I had to pay attention to where I was going.

My new 2001 CDI definetly works better on the big end, I would say it was the same up until about 100 mph. I have had my speedo at 6 oclock before (2000 CDI) but only on ice.

I have a sticker similar to attached image if you are wondering where I am getting my speeds from.

Bring on the fusion. My T-Cats running fine. :inlove:

Thats great to hear that the T-cat is still on top and your new engine is working fine. I met a new MachZ saturday while out for a little bit but never got to run with him.

That sticker is a pretty cool idea, now only if it were somewheres accurate. I checked my speedo compared to the GPS and at 100mph on the speedo the GPS only read 88mph.

Great to hear!!! And the manufacturers wonder why many of us still love the triples!?!? Makes it even better that your sled is stock.

Feel, did RVsports have any of those sleds in tact, or were they parting all of them out? Had a deal on an '01 last week but it fell through.

In stock form the Mach's performance is soft to say the least but once dialed in they seem to be plenty stout.

As for a little more info regarding our beloved Cats clawing up the Mach Z, you should check out an article that I received via e-mail from Black Magic Racing! This was a stock sled shootout on a 1/4 mile track. Here is a quote from that article:

"Stock Open
To start things off, the Yamaha's throaty four- stroke grunt sprinted down the track with a 12.555 et and a speed of 93.74 mph.
The new kids were right on its heels. First, Ski-Doo's stealthy Mach Z 1000 put down a 12.251 et and hit 98.25 mph. The next to run was the IQ-chassied Polaris 900 Fusion. It was no match for the Mach Z's et at 12.466 seconds. The mighty ZR 900 was the last in line in the stock classes, however, and put up the fastest et of all the stock machines for the weekend: 12.086 seconds. Its speed at final approach was on top of the Mach's at 98.25 mph."

Being the owner of an F6, you can see how I was even more proud when I read this:

"Stock 600
In the Stock 600 class, the F6 had an elapsed time (et) of 12.802 seconds and a speed of 93.16 mph in the quarter mile.
The F6 was more than a half-second faster than the next quickest machine, the Ski-Doo MX Z (13.429 et at 84.26 mph) and 6.79 mph faster than the next fastest machine in the quarter: the Polaris XC had the distance covered in 13.467 seconds at a speed of 86.37 mph and the Yamaha RS Vector ran a best-time of 13.514 et at 85.87 mph."

Article was included in the e-mail newsletter from Black Magic Racing on December 29, 2004. I want to make sure to give credit where credit is due!

Looks to me like this is all the proof that we need to show that Cat remains on top!!

Bring on the Fusions :lmao: You onnly need a 600 to take them down. They are ssssllllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww. The Mach's in stock form a crap as well. Doo didn't a pathetic job calibrating the clutching on that sled. Takes some work but once dialed in they fly in the top end. We got an 05 F7 Sno pro in our group that we have spent some time setting it up for drags. Tops out at 93 mph but in 1200-1500 feet in just kills new Mach's. Top end of course the Mach beats it but this weekend were going to see if we can get one of our F8's lined up against a new Mach. Should be embarrassing for Doo.
