I have 2 02 Vipers, and they both are darting really bad. How can I fix this?

To fix ur darting problem, you might wanna consider buying some afermarket skis. I had the exact same problem and some aftermarket skis fixed that right up!. Some buddies of mine did the same thing and it seemed to help theyre problem as well. These skis are expensive tho, and having to tend to two sleds, this might not be the route you wanna go. Another thing is to loosen up ur limiter strap, so that some of the weight is taken off the skis, especially under acceleration. The only thing is that doing this will make ur sled weelie, which is cool to see, but not always so cool when riding on a trail. Another thing u might wanna consider is to stiffen up the most upfront shock on ur skidframe, and soften up the one in the rear. This really helped my sled out with its darting issue but once again made the skis point to the sky when i got on the gas, but not as bad as with the lossened up limiter strap. Your results might vary from mine in that i was running a long track, which is less likely to wheelie and is less suseptable to darting as a short tracker. Hope this helps you out with ur darting issue!.

A pair of new skis are definitely the way to go. I put a pair of Simmons Flexi-Skis on my SXR last year, and darting was totally eliminated. They bite like crazy around the corners, and are very solid. It costs a few pennies but it is well worth the money. They come in some really neat colors too.

Put shims behind the ski spindle. It worked for me. There is an article at Totally yamaha about doing it. good luck!

get yourself a pair of the woody dually carbides and your problems are gone. I went with them on all my sleds and I have not darting problems anymore

This might be a naive suggestion, but have you checked the ski alignment?

I had some horrid darting on my V-max..... checked ski alignment and had a harsh toe-in..... got that fixed, darting lessened.

After I noticed less darting, I put the skis on the highest spring setting, and the rear suspension in the middle....... found that this removed much more.

Yamaha's older plastic skis are horrible for darting, if all of the above fails upgrade to a new set, or buy those dooly's from Woody's..... but to be honest it seems like on my yamaha plastics that it wouldn't work too well, being how wide those dooly's are.
