How do you determine what stud length to use. Each catalog has a different method of ordering studs. The track I'm going to stud has a .750 lug height. Going to use Woody'd new signature series studs 48 of them. My best guess is I need to order 1.000" ones. Give me your thoughts and suggestions. I've never studded before so help me out here. Thanks.

rule of thumb when studding is 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch above the lug ht
im guessing your going to stud just for a bite on icey conds w/ 48 normaly 96 studs are used on a 121" track 2 per row . for a .75" track lug you will be ok w/ .925 studs from woodys . anything above 3/8" of penatration your asking for problems w/ your clearance on the heat exchangers . measure from the inside of the track to the top of the lug
then just add the the penatraion of the stud you want . 1" studs i think will be to much for a .75 track you could run into problems w/ bent studs and pull outs . studs under 1" will be alot cheaper also most manufactures are runing 1" tracks now . i saw pgks of 96 .925 studs for like 1/2 the cost due to extra stock and no market for them anymore . i had a .88 track and 1" studs were the max i could run acording to the manufacture . and i doo have some evidence in my heat exgangers from a few hard landings .

Another rule of thumb use woody's guide to length and quantity, if they have your machine listed and don't get hung up on the length I'm thinking woody's .875's are what ya need depending on your conditions/riding style any thing less than two per is not gonna cut it when you really need them they actually make a sled feel safer in certain mostly hard-pack cond.
