Has anyone had a gas-cap not wanna come off?
I went riding this weekend and the gas cap on my mountain cat was almost impossible to get off. Is there a different cap I could try or something? Getting tired of fighting the gas cap! :bash:

if you overtighten them, they always seem to be hard to get off. Don't need to put them on too tight.

Your tank should have a breather tube. Could this tube be pinched or being restricted otherwise. Check it out... ]

I've had that, too. What a pain in the rear! As FishHog says, just try not to overtighten. That's all I do.

Mine's like that sometimes as well... when it's really cold out it seems to freeze or something

put another rubber washer in it because the original one has flattened out.

I have that problem not with the fuel cap but with the oil res. cap on both my Revs :(

CHeck to make sure the rubber seal in the cap is pushed in all the way and seated properly. My brother in law had same issue. Checked seal and it wasn't seated. Re seated the seal, and all was well. Also, just don't overtighten either.

My oil cap does the same thing until I put some white lithium grease on the inside of the cap.Works good now without straining to take it off.

It is due to overtightening, you really dont have to tighten the caps that much at all to get a good seal. Just be nice to the cap, and the cap will be nice to you!

P.S. I HAD the same problem

is lithium grease a common grease? Never heard of it before. I will go get some and try it. Thanks!

Had the same problem on my Indy 500. My kid must have used a breaker bar to put that thing on. Finally got it off and showed him how to snug it, not make it so tight.

Yes its a common grease. Its white in color-I get my tubes at any auto store. It also comes in cartridges for your grease gun.The old name was LUBRIPLATE. Now its just called white lithium grease.Don't need a lot though.Just on the threads.
