: Checked out a rev today at my dealer
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 01:57 AM I still think it's ugly http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
Kinda looks like a jet ski http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif
Sled Dogg 08-15-2002, 02:02 AM Oh my when Machzzzz1 see's what yu wrote! Oh what a debate this is going to cause.
Caleb
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 02:55 AM Mighty I didnt know you were such an expert in Sled design. *Infact i think that the REV is one of the neatest looking sleds ever made. *Just because it doesnt look like the old school, old fashon RX1 doesnt mean that its ugly.
Ugly is the Skandic LT not the REV. *Good looking is the Mach Z, Extream is the ZX.
Anyway it doesnt matter, because on anything other then a lake the RX-1 will not see the front of a Rev anyway. *After driving it i realised that the REV handles like no other. *
And it may look like a jetski but thats only because it will probably do well on the water unlike the RX-1(ton) which will just sink. *And buy the way its a SEADOO. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
SKI-DOOD 08-15-2002, 03:10 AM Are these two brothers by chance?
It sure sounds like it.
800MXZ 08-15-2002, 11:16 AM Like I have said elsewhere, Haydays and Hasting are just around the corner.
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 11:31 AM Did I say it wouldn't perform? *No, I said that it was UGLY!!!!!!!!
As a kid, my buddy had an AMC Pacer, ugly as #### but we sure did do alot of fun things in that car because of its width..........Ugly things do have their place.
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 11:35 AM I'm really not trying to start anything here, but I stood there with his service manager, parts manager and the mechanic setting it up and we ALL agreed that it was ugly. As a matter of fact, it was the service manager that said and I quote: "It's a shame a sled that handles as well as this thing is so damned ugly"
jwheeler 08-15-2002, 12:03 PM Each to their own some will like it some wont, im not going to say its totally ugly but its not my favorite looking sled either, mabey after i ride it and really look at it sitting on snow it might grow on me. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif and the rx1 wont win any beauty pagents either because it looks like somthing from star wars. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 12:10 PM Have you seen the RX-1 in person? *They are arriving at dealers as I type. *Go look at one for yourself, I garauntee you'll change your tune. *This is my first Yamaha and I am very impressed with the whole package. *
Hey machzzzz1, I lifted the front and rear and it is definately lighter than your beloved machZ http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
YellowBelly 08-15-2002, 12:48 PM I'm going to Nelson's SnoMotion next weekend and they'll probably have everything they can get their hands on there. I heard they now sell all four brands! I'll try to get a look and sit on them all and tell you what I think.
I can't wait! Snocross races on Real SNOW in Aug!! Plus a snow show, swap meet, and grass drags.
As far as looks go, I like the REV the best of the F'cat, rev, and rx-1.
Just my .02
http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Skidoowes 08-15-2002, 12:49 PM I agree with Machzz... that REV is looking SUHWEET! *It had to grow on me when I first seen it. *When you start looking real closely at it, you realize how well its been designed and manufactured and how its form follows function and you start to love it. *None of the other sleds are so unique as they still all follow a traditional sled design and some people just don't like things to be different. *To each his own.
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 01:02 PM I will ride one someday if that is my only choice (if all the manufacturers copy it). *I dare say most people agree with me, Doo's sold 20% less this year than last because they can't stomach the looks. *I know some of you will say it was weather related but how come Yamaha sold 20% more RX-1's than they expected? *These figures were told to me by my dealer that sells all 4 brands.
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 01:09 PM THe front end of the RX-1 is only lighter then a Mach if you got a Block and Tackle helping you lift it. *Besides all the weight is in the middle. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
The REv is the ultimate design, *It reminds me of the stealth fighter, *Its not built for looks its built for performance. *
And for yamahas sales to go up 20% all they got to do is sell 10 more sleds then last year. * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Doo still makes the MXZ ZX and Mach and all other models nothing was replaced, *So i would assume that the 20%drop is snow related, *A ton of people bought 2002 sleds and barly got 2000km on them if that.
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 01:11 PM And no Mighty is not my brother. *My only brother is Snowmoking and hes not been online for awhile.
revrnd 08-15-2002, 01:32 PM I was thinking if I got near the 8,000 mile mark on my sled I would have ordered a new one. As it is I've got 6,500 so I'm keeping the '01 for another season.
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 02:53 PM The REv is the ultimate design, *It reminds me of the stealth fighter, *Its not built for looks its built for performance. *
Wrong, the stealth is a slug. *It isn't built for performance, it's built to not be seen on radar.
machzzzz1, if you can't lift the front a balanced (as you know see) RX-1, you must be screwed trying to move a heavier MachZ http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 03:02 PM What i ment by the stealth fighter is that every bend in its body serves a purpose. *Its the same thing as the rev. *Every bend in its body is there becasue of trying to reduce weight and added handling. *
It is the smartest designed sled built to date. *It incorperates rider comfort and control with a sled design to take hard hits and handle like no other.
Im just BSing about the RX-1 weight. *I know its not that heavy. *610lb isnt bad for a 4 stroke http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif. *But i dont think it will come under the 559lb of the machz
Mighty RX-1 08-15-2002, 03:11 PM 559 machZ, maybe if you take out the motor! *You're crazy buddy.
maluchm 08-15-2002, 03:14 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Mighty RX-1 @ Aug. 14, 2002, 11:57pm)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I still think it's ugly http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
I for one will say that if you looking performance and
handling, who ####### cares what it looks like as long as
it's not hot pink or something and it performs. Looks aren't
everything unless that's all your after (AKA poser). I think
they'll improve in the styling in time. IMHO SkiDoo has been
the best as far as appearence goes for a long time. Change
is a good thing most of the time but some people are just set in the ways and closed minded. Sit back and see if it
rips on the trails and then tell me how you feel about it.
Seems to be very proven on the track already. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I personally dont find the syling appealing but if it beats
the competitors comparable sleds hands down then that's what
I want.
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 04:32 PM The MachZ is 559LB dry. *Period. *With motor in it.
performancex 08-15-2002, 04:41 PM All this talk about RX1 or REV about which one is uglier...when they look so much the same. *Hasn't anyone noticed?
Just look at the RX1...
performancex 08-15-2002, 04:43 PM Sorry, wrong pic. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif * I meant to post this one...
RX1
performancex 08-15-2002, 04:50 PM Front end (hood, windshield) looks very similar to REV...
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 04:58 PM Oh yeah. *I guess we can stop fighting now Mighty. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Mikadoo 08-15-2002, 06:14 PM Com'on you guy's, you need to quit playing up these sleds, they havn't even seen a winter yet! Quit putting the horse before the cart. Last year everyone played up the Viper of how great is was going to be when in fact it was nothing special after all.
revrnd 08-15-2002, 06:44 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Mikadoo @ Aug. 15, 2002, 4:14pm)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Last year everyone played up the Viper of how great is was going to be when in fact it was nothing special after all.
I saw (plus 2 witnesses) 2 Vipers being towed into Smooth Rock Falls within 15 minutes of each other.
http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
The headlights on the RX-1 look like they came from a Firecat http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Machzzzz1 08-15-2002, 07:26 PM The rev was out last winter. *It knows what its about
studboy 08-15-2002, 08:33 PM looks to me the rev's a brother of the blade. it's like ac/dc said who made who. i think the blade looks better.
revrnd 08-15-2002, 09:31 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (studboy @ Aug. 15, 2002, 6:33pm)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">i think the blade looks better.
Studboy, that statement wouldn't have anything to do w/ the Blade being made in MN would it? http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Sharkey 08-15-2002, 10:28 PM For $7000.00 more than a Rev, a Blade should come with a lady of the night. LOL http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Mikadoo 08-15-2002, 11:00 PM I rode with a Viper towards the end of the season and we got into some really rough trails then he blew the chaincase. It was REAL bad on fuel too [6-7 mpg].
As with the RX-1 and Rev, I'am glad to see so many buying first year sleds, that way the bugs will be out of them a little sooner then maybe I will buy one!
anteater 08-15-2002, 11:26 PM i rode the rev last spring it really didn't feel much different to me but i had a short 10 minute ride,it really didn't give me time to get a feel.in the spring i hated the way it looked, now after a few months its grown on me a lot,but still not enough to by one.personally if if *i don't like the way it looks i can't ride it and won't buy it .i don't care how great it handles and performs.i bet the guys on other brands will be right there with the rev this winter on the trail or lake.even the guys with the older sleds.if i can't look at it ,its hard to buy it and load it on my trailer.i recently seen a firecat f7 at a fair.the fit and finish was terrible it took two of us to close the hood, typical cat from my experiences.i like the idea of the rx-1 but i don't really like the way it looks either it has not grown *on me at all. i do like the viper it looks great.personally if we get some snow this winter i'm looking at either an PRO-X 700 or a black mx-z adrenaline 700,or if they grow on me some more before the snow flies i'm thinking maybe but i doubt it, a mx-z rev 600 h.o .not sure about color but probably the yellow and black.
slarson 08-15-2002, 11:30 PM Geez Mikadoo, that viper must have had something wrong with it to get 6-7mpg....I have a riding buddy that gets 13-15 depending upon conditions and style of riding with his, which is better than my 98 FIII 600 which gets 10-12mpg.
revrnd 08-15-2002, 11:37 PM </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Sharkey @ Aug. 15, 2002, 8:28pm)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">For $7000.00 more than a Rev, a Blade should come with a lady of the night. I've heard that saying before http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Especially when discussing expensive motels http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
800MXZ 08-16-2002, 12:48 AM Right now you can go to FAST's web sight and buy a blade for $8500.
studboy 08-16-2002, 01:21 AM i still think it's in the blade family. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/baaa.gif
studboy 08-16-2002, 01:24 AM maybe it was the milkman who made it
Mikadoo 08-16-2002, 06:18 PM slarson, it had triple pipes and he rode WOT as much as possible. He was one of those guys with 0 consern for anyone eles's saftey. Needles to say, it was the first and last time I will ride with him again. Not really a fair shake to the Viper.
670HOTH 08-17-2002, 03:46 AM I am not trying to cause trouble but after reading this post and many other posts from Mighty RX-1 in the past I have the following comments:
1. Based on all of his previous posts it sounds like Mightly RX-1 is not very comfortable with his purchase!
2. Nobody, but nobody! that will ride an ugly RX-1 should be passing judgement on the appearance of the REV. *The RX-1 is not only ugly it is f$ck$ng ugly!
3. *Don't expect your dealer or any of his employees to tell you what they really think of the sled that you just bought. *(I wonder what they say about the RX-1 to people that bought the REV?)
Sorry, I just had to get this off my chest.
paul yarek 08-17-2002, 11:21 PM i have to admit that Performancex is top drawer and front row center chair because he said what i have been saying for months; the rx-1 and the rev look the same. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
paul yarek 08-17-2002, 11:23 PM mighty rx-1,
*thanks for your opinion.
Steven Hohman 08-18-2002, 12:19 AM Hey now guys, we need to cool it down, now we all know that the RX-1 looks different, but it is a good type of different (i guess) and at least it doesn't have the yellow girly color on it *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *ahh sorry about that one, but I really can't stand yellow snowmobiles, sorry *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Rev it 800X 08-18-2002, 11:11 AM Mighty RX1(ton) rode yellow and switched to blue. He doesn't sound too sure about his choice on this board or any of the others he is on. All I know is I owned blue, red and yellow..Currently on yellow (actually black) do to the ride quality. Sure hope no one takes the one ton out in the bumps..that rear skid looks like the same one that was on my '75 GPX433! *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Mighty RX-1 08-18-2002, 11:47 AM You bet I'm a little unsure, I have been on doo for 30 Years! I feel like I'm leaving my family for another. * Maybe I'll be back, who knows but I can tell you this, the REV is Ugly! *I'm basing my opinion on seeing one in person, not pictures. *Can you guys that say the RX-1 is ugly say you saw it in person? *I bet not.
louis 08-18-2002, 03:59 PM Ugly is a sore back, shoulders and knees after a long ride because your sled turns like a pig and you have to work it moving up and down, front to back, side to side and all that to to keep up/stay ahead of the pack. If the REV lessens the amount of physical work in agressive trail riding and I feel significantly less pain and less tired....NOW THATS A BEAUTIFUL THING!
Will RX-1 pull a u-turn instead of entering a rough trail?
I doubt it.
Will myself on a REV?
BRING IT ON!
Who cares if a sled is ugly or not, If I can get my hands on a 200 HP sled, 400 pounds with a suspension that could widthstand a 50 foot drop and acceleration that would rip my arms off, I wouldn't care if it would be pink with green dots or if it would look like the barbie mobile. I'm only interested in the look of other sleadheads when I'm going to pass them at mach 1 http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif Anyway, isn't there something called the Aftermarket to change the way the sled looks. There is something to say about form follows function as well *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/exclamation.gif

Actually I have seen both is person, believe me when I say(no pun intended)that I dislike ski-doo and yamaha the same, but the rev does look better. *Plus, if you look at motocross honda took there fourstroke the CR450F and made to weight the same and in some cases lighter than there competitors 2 strokes(250cc). *Now if yamaha could do that, then there would be reasons to hype the rx-1, until then I believe yamaha should quit talking sh@t. *Oh and by the way the season premier 02' issue of SnowGoer says they weighted the rx-1 at 583lbs DRY! *Also I believe someone posted that people who purchased the rx-1 don't care about the weight, I say this-- I'll bet you the guys who bought the rx-1 mountain care a whole #### of alot about how much there sled weights!!!

Right on AC!!! Now there's somebody who really likes to ride
not just go to a fashion show. In my book, performance outweighs looks anyday.
