Hi,
I just bought my very first sled... 1991 Yamaha Phazer II with 2,300kms on it. I've never owned a snowmobile before and I was wondering what the "starter" switch on my machine was for. Is that just the choke? If so, is the choke on when it is up or down?

I know this is a very simple question, but having never owned one, and not having the manual, I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Yeah....the starter switch is just the choke. When the knob is all the way forward the choke is off. When you pull the handle toward you it will stop straight up and taht is half choke, if you continue to pull it towards you more then you are at full choke.....hope that helps.

Well something like a choke. Using the word choke is not correct since it does not "choke" the air supply but rather adds more fuel. The operation is the same though.

Better than the "Primer" type system I have seen on a few other sleds.

How much to pull it out varies machine to machine and may take a while to get used to. Generally it is only needed when the motor is cold. It is also only used for a short time.
