I have a 2000 Ponitac Grand Prix GTP. *

The car runs good except for every now and then a fuel resistor blows in it and i have to get it towed. *THey cant fix the problem and yesterday for the 3rd time in 5 months it did it again. *When pulling over i almost wanted to drive it right of a cliff however i couldnt becasue the engine wouldnt start. *

I talked to GM and they wont fix it because its 5000km over warrenty. *

Funny thing is that this whole thing started about 1 day after i had it in for regular service and they said it needed a wheel bearing. *I went out and looked at it with him and it didnt look like it needed but the guy insisted. *So i figured ok i guess he knows, I have also been resently in a situation when i blew my wheel bearing in my durango and almost lost the wheel and control of the truck. *However that was at 200000km and the truck service lights came on to warn me, not 65000km like this pontiac. *

So they did the wheel bearing and the next day the fuel risistor blew, Funny thing is that the risistor is right behind the battery right above and a little forward of the wheel bearing. *

So they wont honer anything, fix anything or do anything to help me out, *they will only change the risistor again because they say thats all thats wrong with it with me paying full price for labor and parts (AGAIN for the 3rd time.) *

Then I had a scene when i was yelling at the service advisor because of all the other crap thats wrong with the car and about everything when this lame secritary comes out and tells me to keep it down and she will call the cops if I dont settle down. *I told her to go type somthing and that was the end of that. *

So I had the car towed to an other dealer becasue the previous one wont deal with me after the whole situation. The new dealer looked at the car and said that the work done on it was horrible. *That grease wasnt used properly, that the new risistor wasnt properly installed, and that the wheel bearing install looks like it was done with vise grips. *

THis pissed me off like nothing else and im normally a pretty down to earth cool headed guy but i wanted to go buy a used P.O.S. Car and drive it right thru the showroom of that poor excuse for a dealer. *

However the new dealer said that they cant get my money back becasue that was the other dealers problem, they can only fix it again but need me to pay full price. *So I told them ok and will fight the other dealer untill there bankrupt and gone. *If i have to picket, sell everything I own to start my own dealership and put them out of buissness i will do it becasue im serverly pissed.

GM will hear about this and they lost me as a customer for anything. *THis is my 6 or 7 bad experiance with a company that seems to make a ton of lemons and not do anything about them. *Having problems with your car, truck, sled, atv or anything is one thing. *But if the company doesnt look after you then good buy.

Its all in the Dealer, and it sounds like you had a bad one.

I would call GM, file a complaint, and ask them to call your new dealer to get his opinion. *And ask them what they are going to do, to make it better.

Frustrating, when you can't get a big company like that, to do the right thing, but keep your cool, you will get much farther with your complaint.

Machzzz,

I would contact the better business bureau in your area and give them all this information.

Since you live in Toronto, I would contact CityTV, they have a guy that will expose a company like this and get your money back for you.

I forget what his name is but you can bet the dealership will not want the publicity and will give you your money just to shut you up.

Give it a try.

Get the second dealer to put everything in writing. Then show that to GM what shoddy work the first dealer did.

Well ive cooled down a bit. *I talked to my new dealer and they are starting to think its a bad fuel pump. *I always thought pumps either work or dont. *

So it went thru two fuel resistors and now its looking like one fuel pump plus a wheel bearing all before 70000km and between 65000 and 70000. *Problems started happening right after warrenty.

Thanks for your advice, *I will do what i can and deffinitly will get all the stuff in writing and GM will hear from me. *

As for the City Tv thing well i though about it and im sure theres a lot of people that work at that dealer that would loss there jobs if i somehow got them out of buissness. *Ive now set my goals on getting the person or persons responcible for the way my car has come out of there shop. *Im sure GM will look into this. *

My best buddy works for dodge and he told me that if a customer fills out a bad survay or contacts dodge with a complant they really look into it and hand out major Sh1t.

Im assuming GM has a simular situation.

Thanks again.

It's tough to blame an entire car company from your bad experiences with an independantly owned dealership. Call Pontiac Customer Service and explain what happened to them.

I know that I've delt with Chrysler dealers that are high rated and I always recieve a call from some customer service line asking how my shopping experiance was etc. and i've had this at a doge,Jeep and Pontiac dealer. Those 5 star ratings and similer do mean something . So keep that in mind. My friens '94 F350 turbo diesel blew a clutch at around 35,500 and was replaced under warrenty. Then 2000 miles and out of warrenty the 5speed went. He took it back to the Ford dealer raising a stink and Ford covered it to all of our's suprise. It was Brondes Ford in Toledo FYI.

Here's my brother's horror story.

After 6 months his '00 K2500 w/ 5 spd. would start to overrev with light part throttle application. It was like the throttle was sticking. He had it into the dealer several times, but they couldn't find anything.

He went to arbitration, but still no resolution.

This past June, while in the Toronto area it happened again. He drove straight to the GM dealer in Whitby. With the way it was revving, they thought he was trying to drive thru the building. (Shades of Machzzzz1) The shop foreman hooked up a scan tool & found the Throttle Position Sensor was shorting out & reading that the throttle was wide open, when in fact it wasn't. He printed off the readout.

The next day after he got home to Peterborough he took it to the dealer & showed the printout to the shop foreman at the selling dealer. (Truck is still under warranty) His reaction, "If they found it, why didn't you get them to fix it?"

My brother lost it, found the owner, explained to him what was said & asked him to fix it! The shop guy got his #$% reamed & my brother finally got his truck fixed. The shop guy was worried that the new sensor wouldn't fix the problem & GM wouldn't cover the cost to them under warranty.

In my experience I don't think GM responds to there comment and complaint cards. *My dad bought a 00 chevy silverado 1500 new and I bought it from him a year later. *Since we have had it the dash leaked cold air, the spare tire winch hasn't worked since day one, and the doors have leaked. *It has been brough in to the selling dealer many times with no progress I wrote a complaint car to GM but have not heard anything back. *Finally we brought it to another dealer that fixed all the problems in an hour.

Get in touch with GM & let them know the second dealer WAS able to fix the things that the first dealer couldn't. Maybe send GM a letter with a CC going to the screwups too.
