My friend has a new 2005 polaris 800 vertical edge. It has 250 miles. Ever since it was new it would run good for about 15 minutes then cough, bang and sputter. Wait 10-15 minutes runs great again for 15 minutes then coughs, bangs and sputters. Shop can't determine what problem is. Shop changed a sensor. Still doing the same thing. He added ice scrathers. Still the same thing.

Overheating light does not come on.

He tipped it over once. Had to add coolant.



Shop says they will have to take it out to find out whats the matter with it. Right now the problem is no snow in Helena, Montana to take it out.

I have maybe a similiar problem with my 03 800 ProX.

But it is not consistant "every 15 minutes" It coughs and sputters but does not "bang". I thought it might be an intermitant electrical fault or ECU malfunction. It seems to only happen at slower rpms 4800 to 5500. Was thinking it might be sticking valves at those speeds but I have the titanium and checked to make sure they didn't need cleaning. I can't figure and neither can dealer.

Sounds like a temp or det problem.......either way on a 05 it is a warranty issue let the dealer deal with it. Thats what you paid top dollar for a new sled for.
