I got the CD last night, but my cd drive on my computer does not work! When I go check everything out it says the drive is working as it should. When you put a CD in nothing happens, so I went to run(E:\setup) and it says Windows cannot read this disk (ANY disk I put in, ones that use to work included)

Open the CD drive under my computer and it's empty!

I'd really, really like to use this $200 software. I could always go to another computer, but that's not the best solution.....

Anybody know what I can do now? or has it happened to you?

Pop open the computer and see if the data cable (about two inches wide and flat) is disconnected. It also could be the power wires. Black and red wires with a 3/4 inch wide connector. If either of these is disconnected, that's the problem.

I got it downloaded to my GPS via a laptop, awesome software. Wish those topo lines would all go away, but I can deal with them.

Still working on the CD drive, where are these wires you talk about? On the back of the CPU?

They should be on the back of the CD-ROM drive itself.

Your CD rom is probably toast. Check it by putting in a music CD. If it doesnt work, the laser could be gone.

If you want to replace it, there only about $50 for a CD burner. ITs easy to replace. just open the case, unplug the 2 cables going to the CD rom, take out the 4 screws holding it into the chassis.

DO the opposite to install. Your PC will auto recongnise the new one.

Very easy

Make sure you have the latest software update for your GPS...under Map Setup options look for a setting for Contours (possibly under a tab called Topo) and set them all to Off.
