I've got a 97 mach1 and need a new crankcase cuz some idiot put the bearing dowls in faceing the rear and there's no slots for them to slip into. It crushed the crankcase halves and now the case is f**ked!

So, I pick up a case from a 96 FIII 600. Have it all ready to go, put the jugs on and lower them and then the skirt of the jugs didn't fit into the crank case. Out by about 1/8 of an inch. The diameter of the base of the jugs is larger than the opening of the case where they slip into.

Are the crank cases really the same between the 97 mach1's and the 96 FIII's?

Yes, 600 and 700 crankcases are different.

Only 700 triple crankcases are compatible with your 700 triple. You have the choice of 1997-2000.
