I know this sport has a overpowering number of male riders and I'm sure this site is made up of a lot of male's, but I know us females are out there.. I'm not much into the Tech part of snowmobiling, in fact im quite dumb, but I'm watching and learning all the time, I will continue to do that.. What I'm wondering is, how many females are on this site?? I would love to hear from you, even if your a male who has a wife or g/f who rides, I would love to get some feeback on how many of you are into this sport as much as me.. Thanks all :p

My wife has her own sled and rides everwhere I do , something like the American Express card....I never leave home with out her !

I know she visits this site once in a while but I don't think she is a registered member.

My wife is my main riding partner. We basically are trail cruisers, not really into the performance aspect of sledding, more a daily outing, see the scenery and have lunch/dinner somewhere different. She is completely mechanically illiterate, but that's why she has me :D
Oh, by the way, you're not 'dumb', just inexperienced!

Hi there. It's nice to see female riders like myself on this site. I'm with you, I love to ride, but when it comes to the tech part of the sleds, I leave it to my fiance (wecker20) :inlove: . Actually, he's out in the garage right now cleaning who knows what so they're ready for our Minnesota trip at the end of this month.

Where abouts do you ride?

You'll have to forgive me for being geographically illiterate but is the UP in Michigan anywhere in proximity to Northern Ontario? We trailered up there last spring and the trails were nothing short of awsome, smooth long stretch's, wildlife, and can you say WIDE!!! Nice to hear both you and the hubby love the sport. Tried to get the wife to come on and say hi to a gender frendly rider, but she's a bit on the shy side.

Cory, the UP (upper peninsula) is the part of MI that you're in when you drive over from the Soo.

Most of the time, I wonder if they are actually doing anything to the sled. They probably just tell us that so we'll stay out of their hair for a little while :lmao: You've done more to your sled than I have. I would do more, but my fiance likes doing it all, so I let him. Even at the gas station, he puts the gas in and checks my oil. I just sit there and watch. But like your husband, my fiance will do stuff and try to explain to me what he did. I pretend like I'm listening (sorry hun if you're reading this) and shake my head in agreement like I really understand. As long as my sled runs good, that's all that matters to me :D

As far as riding in the U.P. of Michigan, not yet. We've talked about it this year, but haven't made it up there yet. Haven't had the time really. I'm taking 20 credit hours at school along with working full time. We also have a 14 month old son together and he takes up most of our time. Where abouts in the UP do you ride?

My wife, Donna, doesn't post but she loves to ride. She went to Canada to ride with all the SW members last year. We bought 5 acres several years ago in Irons Michigan and built a cabin on it that we usse mostly for riding sleds in the winter. I gave her my old sled when I upgraded back in '97. We both ride current model sleds now and she is my main riding partner here on out.

My wife is a stone cold nut on a sled, unfortunatly, she's very pregnant this winter so she isn't riding.
She's thinking next year maybe maybe not because of breastfeeding,(down boys) too.
We sold both our older sleds after I got my new one so she,and I figure next spring when the Poo is paid off we'll get her something newer.
Silly girl wants a Arctic Cat tho, whats up with that?

Hi...I am Reimagal... started sledding in 2002,my husband figured I would not like it....................well he was wrong! I have 6000 kms on my 2004 sled.Last weekend he was away and I still went sledding!

I am TOTALLY into sled fashion! Learned there are great internet sites to shop for sled stuff at!

I really enjoy our sled trips...we take off for a week at a time with saddlebags and head to Quebec..did a few trips last year, one so far this year and we have another one planned soon.

I know NOTHING about the tech stuff...most I can do is fill my oil and my gas and hook up the truck and trailer...I can trailer the sleds too.

I know a little about sled brands...each year I learn a bit more.

I love the trails and the scenery and chatting with fellow sledders.I love the freindly banter of sledders teasing about which sled is better.I love my thumb on the throttle on a nice straight stretch.

I am often in the chat room...so drop in sometime!

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!

ps...do you match your sled???

hola everyone. Well obviously my girl is here and reads posts. Mostly I just sit here and read them and she looks over my shoulder. Shes a paramedic and doesnt have much time to do much chatting and searching but I will encurage her to make her own account.

You guys gotta be easy on her though. shes a newby sledder.

I give her much credit. I am actually paralyzed from the waist down and she does all the work. Loading, unloading, covering, strapping, gasing, oiling. And as far as mechanical stuff, we got our buddy idooski right here in kalamazoo that I call on if I need help. I am a mechanic but 2 strokes are something I dont know along with the inner workings of a sled.

Only been back in the sport for the last 2 years, slowly learning though.

Keep in touch and maybe we will se ya out there somewhere.

Fred

P.S.- pray for more snow.

Wow ! what a nice response from all of you. I'm so happy to hear about females who ride sleds and are into it like me.. I knew we were out there its just we don't post on these sites as much.. When we go Up North I see woman on sleds everywhere but then when I get on the computer, Nope, Not too many.
My Husband and I are so into this sport that we decided to get married on them..lol, Yep we had a snowmobile wedding up near Paradise Michigan at the Falls. ( This was a second marriage for both of us and we kinda figured the church thing didn't work so..) We had a wedding isle lined with sleds of all makes and models but we chose to just have ski-doo in the wedding party. It was the best ever, and every year we try hard to get back to the Falls on Dec 28th our Anniversary. I would imagine some of you know my husband, he has been a member on this site for a long time. snowmut is his sn.

:D Welcome Koolchic... Sounds like your like most of the females on here, not much into the tech part of snowmobiling but defenitly into the riding.. That's awesome .. I am a bit of an aggressive trail rider, meaning, I will hop my sled across the bumps, moguls and skim my way across an ungroomed trail with the best of them. I think I tend to get tired more quickly then the men but I defenitly don't lose sight of them.. My husband used to always look behind to see if I was there and now he rarely does... ( not sure if I like that or not ) LOL. Anyway, Welcome to what I think is one of the best sites on the Web.. I'm looking forward to some chat with you as well. think Snow !

My wife loves riding, but just like NHIcegator's wife, she's very pregnant, just a week or two left. She really enjoys it when we hook up with other couples and do a full day ride. Last year, she did 125 miles in one day! I have male friends I ride with that have never done that!

Congrat's on your new baby ! I'm sure your wife is ready for that to be over. A 120 mile day is a good ride.. the most I have done is 185 and it would have been fine if the trails were not beat to heck for about the last 80 miles... I swear I just wanted to get off my sled and kick it.. LOL I have found I get tired quicker in the lower part of michigan compared to the Upper but I know that has everything to do with trail conditions and how hard your riding ect... Anyway, I hope your wife get's to ride this year. again, Congrats !!

Hello ladies.. my name is Becky and I'm a sledaholic. This is my 5th year riding, and the 3rd year on my arctic cat F5. Hubby has the F7, and is my usual riding partner, although this year we have been riding more often than not with other people too.

Seems like if we aren't riding we are talking about it, sharing pictures or wrenching on someone's sled. We just helped a friend of mine rebuild his motor, and yes I help them out in the garage. I know quite a bit about stuff from just hanging around watching and listening. Never hurts to know how to fix things.

Oh I live in northern NY and we mostly ride the Adirondack's northern region.

Another woman that likes snowmobiling. We go away every weekend and sled on the lakes and the trails. I use to try and help my husband fix his old sled but we bought all new ones so I hope we don't have to fix anything to soon.
We have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and she has a mini z and really enjoys herself and next winter I'm sure our son will be driving it too.
Glad to hear and see that there a group of women that don't mind getting cold.
Enjoy

My wife likes to ride also, we have been riding together for three years now. Our anniversary is February 25 so every year we spend 4 - 5 days snowmobiling in the UP around that date, just the two of us. We always have a good time on the sleds.
