: Horsepower...
Greenclicker 08-20-2002, 06:55 AM How many ponies do you store under you're hoods???
I have between 170 & 180 hp under my hood.... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
ARCTICZRT600 08-20-2002, 08:13 AM With my couple of add ons I would say 130-135 hp.
madsledhead 08-20-2002, 11:12 AM My xcr 6 put out 122 on dyno last year, Added a few items this year hope to be around 135 as well.
TallCool1 08-20-2002, 11:38 AM Dynoed at 156!
Greenclicker 08-20-2002, 11:59 AM JIM What have you done to your sled??? *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif
WINTERFREAK 08-20-2002, 12:16 PM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif *hummmmmmmmmm let me think * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
<----------------------
TallCool1 08-20-2002, 12:20 PM That's my secret.....just joking. *Twin pipes and custom clutching. *Did not buy a clutch kit in a box, had a shop machine the helix, spring, and weights.
mr670 08-20-2002, 12:29 PM stock pipe 670, 144@8000 rpm -96ft lbs torque
800MXZ 08-20-2002, 12:31 PM Hmmm all 3 sleds? I figure about 410Hp.
maluchm 08-20-2002, 02:06 PM My little 600 was dyno'd at 160HP. It's a Rotax and guess
what......it's a triple! * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
jayjaysin 08-20-2002, 02:30 PM You should add to your responses the cost to get those numbers. *That is the true measure. *I am amazed at some of the numbers you guys are posting. *Almost hard to believe, unless you dump a truck load of money into you sled. *160 hp out of a 600 triple! *How reliable are these sleds when they are tuned to the max?http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif? *With so many people bashing brands on here complaining about the OEM's, it makes me wonder how many of these "manufacture's" problems are actually caused by the manufacturer. *People complain about OEM's not doing enough field testing, it makes me think they are just saving money since so many people mod there sleds anyhow. *I'm just thinking out loud here. *Not meaning to put anyone down. *To each their own. *I personally do not mod my sled, I just buy the biggest I care to ride, and ride it stock.
madsledhead 08-20-2002, 02:59 PM Point well taken jayjaysin, but hp to some people is a hobby.
It's not always about the ridding for me and my daughter, it's about spending time cranking out as much "reliable" hp you can. Like I said, it's our pastime and hobby.
Don't get me wrong, I love to trail ride as well, but I have 2 other sleds that I take.
But the other side of snowmobiling for us is to have a crowd of people gather around our sleds when we stop at a restaurant and want to see under the hood. I love it, It's like the feeling an artist gets when he/she reveals a new painting.
There are alway a few motorheads in the crown that love to talk shop and it's really and enjoyable experience.
Engines are a hobby - yeah, it costs a few bucks, but then again what hobby doesn't.
jayjaysin 08-20-2002, 03:09 PM I understand where you're coming from madsledhead.
TallCool1 08-20-2002, 04:18 PM JayJay, I thought about that when I was placing my post, and hoped nobody would bring up price.....approx $1200.00 divided by 16 hp = $75.00/h.p. ....OUCH!!! *But hey, it's an addiction, and no matter how many times I prove to myself that I can't get that money back out of my sled, I always have to add something(s) to a sled when I buy it. I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED!!! * http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
maluchm 08-20-2002, 04:29 PM Spins over 10,000 but only goes 660ft at a time. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif
NDMtnSledder 08-20-2002, 07:08 PM That was very well said madsledhead. *I think I should have around 120hp out of my zr500 this year but I have no way of testing for sure. *Even if not it will be much better than stock.
speed150 08-20-2002, 09:34 PM My little 1050 has 260 hp. but can only go 1000 ft at a time. And price, Not cheap.
jwheeler 08-20-2002, 11:58 PM I got to doo myself up a drag sled, and get into some real racing. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

I'm having a "small" complex now thanks! *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Some day.......Some day.....I'll be that big.
madsledhead 08-21-2002, 03:07 PM Maluchm,
Great looking plant you have there, I've never seen a bulkhead so clean.
Speed150 - Great looking plant as well
Congrats!
Greenclicker 08-21-2002, 03:34 PM Sweat!!
But i think its better having a sled with 170-180hp and nail the throtle for like 5 miles than having a sled with 260hp and go a half mile then BANG!!
Just my 2 http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
speed150 08-22-2002, 12:06 AM Maluchm,

studboy 08-22-2002, 12:18 AM well my sled has 164hp on dyno and still not enough hp yet. but still tinkering yet. maybe i should buy a turbo. anyone have one yet
POWERHAULIC 08-22-2002, 12:28 AM Lake toy = 210hp on pump gas fun fun fun
highlandergerman 08-22-2002, 12:57 AM stock 99 zrt 800, no mods yet, * what does that make it, *145-150 hp.
sledcrazy 08-22-2002, 11:51 AM my mxz is about 116hp.
YellowBelly 08-22-2002, 12:09 PM I don't think I can fit a pony under my hood. lol
http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
maluchm 08-22-2002, 12:53 PM Thanks Madsledhead.
Speed150 - yes it is a 600 currently. hehehe
Probably will be till next year unless you wana trade
straight up. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Greenlicker - To each his own. 5 miles at WOT is a long ways
not to go boom also.
Little green sixer 08-22-2002, 06:34 PM I am guessing about 120, but I am not sure I have never had it tested.
sleddinfool 08-22-2002, 11:14 PM My 99zrt600 is probably pushing around 135-136. I hope too have my 900 at around 175-180 when done. Kevin
toydoc 08-23-2002, 08:05 AM 18 ground pounding Horsepower
7 speeds
42 inch deck... it rocks *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Hey it's the most HP that run across the yard in the last week.
TaxiCat 08-23-2002, 03:27 PM Horse power is a wonderfull thing. But to acurately use that
H.P. it needs to be transfered to the ground. All the H.P. in the world will do no good unless the set up is right.
A person can spend 1/2 the $'s in clutching, carb and suspension set up and smoke the guy who has 20 more ponies.
I personally have around 135 h.p. in my zert 600 and have either hung with or walked 800's and almost all twins.
It just takes a little reaserch and time. (Thats free)
My 2 cents.

Oh, and it's diesel powered as well!! *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I just sold my 15.5 hp riding mower this morning.
mtrsprt 02-17-2004, 02:52 AM Im guessing around 154-158hp from my bone stock 00' Mach Z.
Soon to be about 182-188hp from a mod kit from Bickfords.
catrules2000 02-17-2004, 08:34 AM I think the better question is how much Trailable Horsepower you have.
phat_cat800 02-17-2004, 10:05 AM Well I've probably got aronunf 140-145 in my stock ZRT 800 plus a couple of stickers so about 142-147  .
CyberkineticMonkey 02-17-2004, 10:19 AM 100-110
stock 02 zr600 efi
gamer 02-17-2004, 03:39 PM 01 tcat piped and reeds 185 on the dyno

Nice. I bet that thing moves out pretty quick!!!!!
You got enough traction for 185hp? :)
I plan on getitng about 188hp from the trail mod kit from Bickfords.

WKinneIII 02-17-2004, 06:01 PM Stock Ultra I have heard hp is between 105-110, soon buying triple pipes (SLP) and needles as well as a clutch kit to match it, dunno what it makes after all that. I think its like 145-150. That will prolly be plenty, but ya never know.
Wayne
ZR600_NS 02-17-2004, 06:22 PM Cat says 110hp, but like Like CyberkineticMonkey says, probably somewhere between 100-110.
2001 ZR600EFI.
Still makes me smile though.
mxzwfo 02-17-2004, 07:31 PM Between 100hp and 200hp. I am just guessing though :)
1000IMP 02-17-2004, 08:00 PM Well here goes
the ski-doo 440 is 121.5 at 9700 RPM
the ski-doo 600(twin) is 136 at 9400
about 3-4 grand into each of em, the motors anyway
puree 02-17-2004, 08:20 PM got right at 37 hp on my 370
woodsy 02-17-2004, 08:38 PM I have noticed a couple trends in this thread:
1. VERY FEW replys out of Canada - is this because if your speed laws (why have LOTS of horsepower when you cant use it - a Thundercat gets to 30 mph REAL fast!!).
2. I think the "bull poop" has gotten pretty deep - of course - we Americans LOVE our bench racing!!
cat-rider 02-17-2004, 09:16 PM About 67-68HP.
should specify what year of sled and motor size. gotta a 1987 indy 600 putting out 145hp at 9600rpm's. but no longer trail ridable. 1000ft. ice speedruns. 114mph-1000ft.
DamageInc 02-18-2004, 02:20 AM Originally posted by ZR600_NS@Feb 17 2004, 04:22 PM

Still makes me smile though.
The valved 600's put out an honest 110, Snowtech even dynoed one at 113. The pre-valver 600's were only around 100.
FuzzButt 02-18-2004, 10:04 AM I always get a chuckle out of the guy's who take their stock 600 making about 100 HP and then add parts to it then add the sum of what the parts say they add. So if you start with 100 and add a +7HP pipe & +15 port job do you really get 122HP. Racing in the right situation is all fun but keep racing off the trails.
For the record last time my 600 was running it still made enough power on 1 cylinder to make 50 MPH easily.
Maybe we need to start a how tall can you get your sled to pull a wheelie thread?
