I would say 800 and no bigger because insurence in Ontario is just killer but if I had to pick one it would be a Ski-doo Series 3 700 twin or the new 600H.O. SDI.

I always thought a flat 4 (boxer) design would be neat. Efficient design, no way to get it any lower. Plenty of room for an intercooler above it....

I voted what I currently ride, not what I would ride. For me, weight is a big factor. If they made a sub 500 lb 1000 cc two stroke, I'd probably buy one, but they don't...

With more 4-stroke powered sleds in the future, get ued to seeing bigger engines. Just look at the motorcross scene - 450cc bikes to compare with 250cc 2 stokes. So unless alot of 4-stroke stuff gets turbo'd ( I doubt it ), the 4-stroke stuff will be larger to provide comparable power.

I am looking at the Mach Z twin, but really dont need a 1000cc trail sled  .

Wait a couple years and you'd be putting 1200CC into the poll.

02-16-2005, 10:25 AM
Why does the poll only go to 1000? Right now I am at 992 (triple) and I want more, yes for trail. Do I need it, no, but a quick example, right after The Tequminam Falls, on the north trial to Paradise, there is a little lake, adn when I hop off that trial to race, I want to win!

fast,,, where is that lake at?? I cant recall it
as for size, a 600 is plenty fast enough for running trails, I have a 700 and a 900 and I like the power of the 700 the best,,,, the 900 is great across a lake though,,,

Heading on North trail out of Newberry, just after the gas stop (the one that is 4 miles after the falls), it is right off the trail, it is small, but a good short lake race. Both times I went through there, there was a few people racing it.

i mostly ride in the michigan u.p on the closed seasonal roads trails. and i prefer the torque of a big bore, to lift my skies over the halfpipe sized whoops. and the consistant high speeds of the straights. seams like everytime we ride there, we are dragging some poor souls "piped and clutched" small bore to the road with a granaded engine. yea my big bore is a little heavyer, but at speeds of 60.70.80mph over stutters and holes, it stays a little more stable than my smaller lighter sled ,and i don't have to keep it "pinned" for speed, and have nothen left to lift it over the unforseen monster bump! it does take a little more to handle the corners on my big bore, but do you all rember "FAST IN THE STRAIGHTS SLOW IN THE CORNERS" my kids might be comming the other way! long live the big tripple

No bigger than 800(in a 2-stroke anyhow, 4-stroke is a whole different subject), right now I ride a 600, and other than crossing lakes, and lining up and racing which I not really into, I find that just playing around and riding trails I can do anything my 700 riders can do, also with the rising cost of gas, licenses , insurance I do not for see my self going any bigger than a 600, but with the ever increasing popularity of 4-strokes I thinks it time we start classifying sleds by H.P.

Just love my 600, just wish it had SDI type fuel economy. With the type of twisty trails around here don't really need much else.

That's a tough call. I always thought that a 600 was the perfect size, but because of a super deal ended up with an 800. Now I don't think I could go back. But...if I was buying a sled for next year it would likely be a 600.
If money was no object, I'd go as big as I could find, just for the thrill of the occasional blast down a rail bed or across a lake.
