I just purchased a 2005 Rage and a 2005 Vector the Vector seems to have alot more engine noise than the Rage the dealer says Yamaha is aware of it and says there is nothing wrong. Does anyone know anything about this ? Thanks


I found out that the problem wasn't engine noise, it was the clutch.

Yeah, there is a clutch kit available to stop the rattle.
Also, don't forget the four strokes produce a lower frequency noise wise than the 2 stokes allowing you to hear things you normally wouldn't!

Run it. There is a clutch update to make it quieter, but some people have said that it eventually starts again. There is nothing wrong with the clutch though.

My husband and I just purchased two Yamaha RS Vector GT's, my husbands clutch is making a rattle that kind of resembles a chain noise. Mine has not made this noise....yet. I only have 100 miles on mine so far and he has 150 miles on his. Do you know if this is normal for the 2009's? Is this the same problem?

yes, it's the same problem. There is nothing wrong with the machine. When you are on a 4-stroke there are a different set of noises that you have to get used to.

Yamaha says to bring them in at 500 miles for a check up. I would do that, and give them an oil & filter change. Just my 2 cents.
