I have a 2000 Mxz 600 with dpm. I have heard that the cylinders are nicacil sleeved. I need to know if they are or not. Thanks

Cylinders are either nicasil plated or cast iron lined, if the cylinder is off the engine, you can tell by looking, nicasil is like chrome plating and shiny cast iron is more dull looking, also you can try a magnet.... if it sticks it's cast iron.

They're plated. U.S. Chrome of wisconsin does a good job of repairing and re-plating cylinders, at a reasonable cost.

I thought that the 500 and 600 non HO series III engines had steal sleeves? If you go to the ski doo microfiche and look at the cylinders 600 engine says cylinder and sleeve and the 700 says nicasil cylinder.I think this is why the 600 non HO engine does not have the ring issue that the nicasil cylinder engines have. The steel sleeve dissipates the heat better than the nicasil cylinder.

If you're right, I stand corrected. I thought all series III twins were plated, but it definately wouldn't be the 1st time I was wrong. :D
