: Baseball strike
MO-FO 08-20-2002, 11:09 PM Finally my Minnesota Twins are kicking some butt (15 game lead) and the players are talking strike. Oh well, atleast Football Season is here, although the Vikings are going to suck big this year. I guess all I can do is hope for a ton of snow!!!
PANTERAONE 08-20-2002, 11:20 PM i hope they go on strike im sick and tired of these athletes who only care about money, very few care about winning, look at a-rod,he left a talented team to play with a bunch of losers,he did it for the money, can you believe he makes over $110,000 PER GAME.......guys that can hardly hit .270 make 2-3 million and pitchers who can hardly last 5 innings and era at 4-5 get millions also, this time if they strike the fans should refuse to go back,it is nice to see the twins doing good,at least in the nfl its a level playing field and the league is strong and well balanced, mlb should bring in salary cap,and make the league more interesting, and set these greedy agents and players back to reality
MO-FO 08-20-2002, 11:28 PM I agree, atleast with the twins they are a bunch of nobodys so it's fun to watch them.
revrnd 08-21-2002, 12:32 AM Pretty hard to feel sorry about a bunch of overpaid kids. I read in the paper today what some of the retired ballplayers are getting for a pension, peanuts. Less than a retired autoworker http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Anyone familiar with Carl Brewer & some retired NHLers going after Alan Eagleson (former agent & head of NHLPA)? The hockey pensioners were getting screwed & Eagleson ended up convicted of fraud! I'm not sure if they've thrown him out of the hockey hall of fame or not. Anyone know for sure?
Darryn Duncan 08-21-2002, 10:11 AM It could be a season like when the Expos were leading and then the league went on strike. It is hard to feel sorry for all the over paid winers though.
PANTERAONE 08-21-2002, 01:22 PM ya that was tough the expos had a great team, probably would have won the world series that year
Sled Dogg 08-21-2002, 01:32 PM The strike isn't becuase the player want more money. It's because they don't want to give it back. the league and owners have given so much money that now they relized it was to much, go figure. And the players of course don't want to give any salary up/back.

performancex 08-21-2002, 02:08 PM MO-FO, the Vikings didn't look too bad on Friday.

I agree - over paid is right.
Then again, here in Detroit, baseball and football aren't really are strongest sports, LOL *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
I'll still enjoy tailgating before the Lions games, if we can figure out where we'll park this season! *We'll find out Saturday morning I guess.
Steven Hohman 08-21-2002, 03:20 PM I like the sport of baseball, I just can't stand how much they are payed for doing so little. *I'm not saying baseball is easy, I'm just saying they are paid way too much for doing it.
MO-FO 08-22-2002, 01:04 AM I agree professional atheletes are over paid, but the way I look at it... So much of my check goes to paying some low lifes welfare check or supporting some cause I could care less about, I dont really mind spending the money on a new stadium or paying some high priced salary if I get some enjoyment out of it on the weekend.
Well we all know how good the Milwaukee Brewers are doind this year *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleepy.gif LOL. I used to watch them from time to time, but now I have a life.
Anytime that MLB can shoot themselves in the foot, they do.

LicknOutaTheCatsDish 08-22-2002, 09:22 PM 2 words to say about baseball/football......WHO CARES,
like I said before about NASCAR, all the other sports only require 1 ball!
zrgreen 08-22-2002, 10:05 PM At least hockey training camps open in a few weeks http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
paul yarek 08-22-2002, 10:07 PM i like how the blue jays have the best facility in the world with room enough for over 50000 people and cannot get over 15000 in the place because of the last strike. before the last strike you had to give up your first born and mortgage the house to get nosebleeds at the jays skydome.
revrnd 08-23-2002, 12:23 AM I've talked to a few new fans @ MIS. They said they were p.o.ed about baseball & liked how the drivers are a lot more personable & down to earth despite the money they make.
PANTERAONE 08-23-2002, 12:50 AM ya paul the skydome is nice, but baseball is going downhill,i remember watching the jays and redsox behind home plate,i couldnt believe how much mo-vaughn was making to waddle to the plate every 3 innings, this guy cant even run,he smacked the ball down the line into the corner in the field and only made it to 1st,i used to be a big fan ,but now i have no interest at all
paul yarek 08-23-2002, 07:50 PM panteraone,
*i was going to get season tickets to the raptors until they started paying nutty money to those clowns too.
