Back in January I was riding in the lower Penisula in MI and the sled ran great the first 3 days. After that is started dieseling around 5k. The mileage wasn't affected and the plugs looked pretty much normal so I ran it. I figured something came loose in the pipe or the reed cages were going. Well, it turned out the reed cages were peeling like an old sunburn. This is the second set that have done this. I ordered a new pair from the dealer but they are "back ordered" with no delivery date in sight. (It's been 2 weeks thus far.) I have heard that BRP is having all kinds of problems supplying parts. Has anyone else seen this? We don't have any snow anyway but this is starting to tick me off. Are the newer cages any better than the old cages??

Get a set of V-Force 3's. I've never had a problem with those cages.

I 2nd the VF3's. Minimal performance gains, but a tottally different cage design and composite material. Fixed the problem on mine lickity split!
I've put over 4000 km (2500 mi) on them, and no delaminating. I used to replace the Boyesen reed petals every 1000 km.

I'm suprised your sticking with the factory stuff when there are alot of good options availible, give them a try.

This is a very common problem with the 800's only. 700's and 600HO's use the same reed cages with no problems. Best solution is the VF3's period. A set is cheaper than stock and my 700 runs better with them in.

what about the v-force petals? they wear as well. I prefer the boyeson rad if you are buying the cage. apples or oranges?
After 4000 km, no wear on the V-Force petals.

3000 miles on the petals in the 00 700. lil more but not really sure about the miles going in but before 1000.sled is showing 4200+. never got to dyno the rad but the v-force and the boyeson petals were only 1hp on bottom and 2 up top apart. do a search I think dave beam dynoed the rad in his 800.

You can peel the rubber off the boot and re-install them without the rubber on them. They will seal with the gasket no problem. I however have had real good luck with the V-Force reeds in my 800 twins. Matter of choice.

Yea, I had the RAD on my 01 800, and had good results. We ran it on the Land and Sea at Secord Marina, with some (minimal) gains over the stock cages. About 5hp in the mid, and 2 or 3 on the top. The RAD Valve is a much different design than the replacement Boyeeen petals. They are a 2 stage petal (one smaller petal over a larger one) that covers the whole cage ine one piece.
