Looking to enter the 21st century and buy a digital camera. Anyone know what features to look for and which to avoid?

I bought a Fuji 2600Z. Really happy with it. 2 M pixels, 3X optical zoom, 2.5 digital zoom, 1.8" LCD monitor. You can record .avi video. Pics are jpeg format.

I got a Dazzle Smart Media reader too. Someone else on here had the same camera before I bought mine.

Look for somthing with at least a 2 or 3 megapixle for clear pics get one with a zoom because it sucks without it and go for a 2.5 or higher digital zoom, HP makes a nice camera.

I too bought the 2600Z, really nice camera for the money, seems the Fuji's, really take great pictures...listen to this,
this was the second digital I bought, the first one (it was a lesser model the the 2600Z)accidently slipped off my belt while using the a porta pottie at Winston Cup qualifying @ Chicagoland Speedway, it landed in the blue chemicals, I'm not going into what hapened next, but suffice it to say, it was ruined, but my memory cards still are fine and saved the pictues I took that day. *
So becareful where you take them!

I bought a Kodak DX4900 w/ 4.0 megapixels, 2x optical & 6x digital zoom. Pictures turn out awsome and I upgraded to the 128mb photo card. I can take 103 pictures with this set up. The only thing is the battery doesn't last that long. I also have the download docking station / charger. I was told that you want to try to stay with at a least a 302 megapixel. I am just trying to figure out how to post pictures on my website.

I've decided a digital camcorder will be a better idea. Lets turn the focus there http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif

Well I'd say get one with optical zoom as digital zoom is the devil http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I got a Olympus C1 cam, and I'm more than happy with it except for the zooming part.. The same model exists with optical zoom tho.. grrr!\
Anyway.. Just to warn you, digital zoom is UGLY so get something with optical zoom if you care about zooming http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
