Well this weekend I got taught a lesson. Went out to Anchor Bay for some racing. I think I got the clutch setup pretty good, runs great, and shifts good, but off the line I just sat there spinning till everybody was about 100 foot away, then I took off. I could pull alot of them, once I got moving, but I was just way to far back to catch most. I am pretty cluless with setup. My sled is a 2000 ZRT, with 1.25 track and 192 studs. The limiter strapes are snugged up just a little. How do I set it up for hooking up (with the track I have). Can a track like mine do OK? I would love a chisled speed track, but I have what I have. Thanks for any help, I learn more each day.

I go out there as well if you want to compete you need chisels or picks other wise you will spin forever especially w/1.25 track. You can loosen the limiter alot though it will help you need alot of weight transfer for studs.

I was wondering about the 1.25 track. I am thinking of getting a used small lug track, preferably with a bunch of picks. For now though what should I do. I was told to move the rear arm back a hole and adjust the limiter shock, but I was unsure about the limiter straps, do I tighten them to keep the front end on the ground, vise versa?

The more you tighten the limiter straps, the more ski pressure you have and less weight transfer

I guess i set up different than you guys..on the fire cat i drill a extra hole in limiter strap and get them up as much as i can, and than i get another strip and lower the back as much as possible, lower the front springs just enough where the retainer doesn't fall out and than use a peace off chain to keep it down..and than put on your shaved track with drag studs and coupler blocks against you scissors, and away you go..straight ahead not or a spin or a lift what so ever.

i know this is all about setup but this might help. i have vforce 3 reeds in my new M7 and when i put them in its starts were 10x as good as they were stock it gave my sled alot better throttle responce to so check them out

back limiter off asto have some slack in it.if the rear suspension is coupled remove coupling. tighten up ctr shock spring som (holds track down and uses it as a pivot for weight transfer) then start with rear cams on middle setting. sit on sled with feet in stirrups and launch sled if it still spins soften rear cams 1 click at a time till hooks if still wont hook put more slack in limiter strap.if gets good bite and lifts skis too high and then looses bite either stiffen rear cam or tighten limiter some to control lift. hope this helps just play with it and you will get it better.

Good / solid advice. My '02 ZR-800 with a 1.25 track hooks fairly hard for only having 144 studs down the center, susp set up is key.
