I have an 96 enticerII 410cc that makes a clicking noise when you just let it roll going down hills. this noise will go away if you give it gas or use brakes. It sounds like its either in the chain case or brake slapping. when I jiggle the brake disk I can make the same noise, there is a bit of play on the disk. How much play should there be?. will check brake specs and chain oil tomorrow.

Hey there, Im not sure exactly of ur description what is going on, but i beleive on the enticer 410, there was a floating brake disk, meaning it had a little play in it, (bout 2mm or so) and it was designed that way. We had a 1999 VK540, and we thought something was wrong, but it was only the floating disk that was making that sound, it actually got quite annoying after listening to it at idle for long periods. As for u, this might not be the problem, because our disk didnt make a clicking sound. you might wanna check ur rotor to make sure its not warped or having a build up of crap on it thats causing the clicking, like as in u leaving ur e-brake on while driving, having the pads heat up and partially melt on the rotor. Other than that checking ur gears and chain for anything out of place and for filings is a sure way to go. But what ur describing happened to us to only it was not cliking but like a rattling, and it happened when idling or letting off the gas and letting the engine do the braking. It wasnt all that loud either. Hope this helps!!, let us know what u find out.
