Just 10 days to the unofficial end of summer with Labor Day. What did you do with your vacations? I just got back from a few days in Toronto with my wife and daughter..first trip there ,had a great time, did the Hockey Hall of Fame and the zoo. Let me say I found it clean, friendly, and I have never seen so many fine looking women in my life. So I wasn't used to all that traffic, but I made it there and back in one piece. To you guys from the area, how far do you have to go to find trails to ride? My other vacations were a week with the family around town doing day trips, a few days in the 1000 Islands fishing with my brothers...I prefer waking up to the sounds of loons than sirens. Saving the rest of my vacation for hunting season, grass drags, and hopefully some Christmas time riding.

zrgreen,
*the toronto guys have been coming my way to ride when the sledding is good because it's less money and less traffic on the trails also less traffic on the highways.

We paddled in & camped up in Algonquin Park for 3 nights. Nice & quiet, did some hiking & bass fishing, a few small ones. Good to get away from civilization.

From Toronto, the closest trails are probably in Uxbridge on Hwy. #47 to the northeast.

2 more weeks off to come. 1 for Talladega in October & the other for deer hunting in November.

Vacation, whats that? I worked as much overtime and extra duty that I could possibly find. Need all the cash that I can get my hand on to help pay for those expensive toys that I crave *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Every summer we rent a cabin for a week on Buckatobon Lake in Conover WI. in Vilas Co. Its a great resort to stay at,the kids have a play area and beach right out from the cabin door. I personally enjoy fishing for muskie, although bass and walleye are common and I go for them too. After the kids go to bed,me and the wife try to get in a good game of Scrabble, yes I said Scrabble. I have to spend time with her too.
Bauers Dam is a few doors down,a popular watering hole for sledders. That is where I learned how to waterskip. It would'nt be right without stopping at the Log Cabin Inn in Conover, they have the best pizza known to mankind.

We also go to the inlaws weekend getaway place in Adams Co. WI. They have a travel trailer on some propery(also doubles as a huntin shack) *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif *So we go there to relax, have a few beerzees and enjoy the outdoors.

Here is a pic of my fishing buddy.

My summer vacation was an el cheapo trip to Denver to visit family. *I wanted to go do some hiking in the mountains, but had hurt my back a week before the vacation. *I ended up looking at new vehicles during that trip, which led to me selling two vehicles, alot of car stuff, and buying a new car a couple of weeks ago.

The most unique part of this trip was that I drove the entire trip on homebrew diesel fuel. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Now, in a couple of weeks, I'm heading out to W. Virginia to bring home another old car - a 1959 Mercedes 190Db. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Took a couple days for Salmon Fishing in the spring, on Lower Lake Huron,
One week at my cottage (just north of Huntsville) not far from the Sprucedale Hotel for those of you who know the area. It went way too fast, but it was nice to relax and fish.

Other than that, work, work and more work. *A few more days for deer season in November, and then sled, sled, sled. *I hope.

zrgreen. the closest trails *to toronto would be straight up Young St to Holland Landing. about 50-60 min( faster if you came up the DVP+404 ) In Holland landing you pick up the Holland river witch is 8 miles of twisty turny high speed fun. The Holland river runs in to Lake Simcoe, and from there the trail's lead North to Barrie and Orrilla, or head east or west.
It's unlimited!!!

I spent the summer as a fishing guide in northern Saskatchewan...I don't know if it was a vacation because I was technically working....but mostly I was paid to drive a boat around http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
