Hey, I am trying to get my driveshaft off my 1998 XCR 700. So far I have removed the exhaust, removed the chain case cover, removed the lower sprocket and snap ring behind it. I have taken off the secondary clutch and removed the speedo and the casing behind it. I am able to slide the driveshaft almost enough to drop it out of the speedo side and i can get the driveshaft to move all the way over to the speedo side but the sprocket hits the inside of the tunnel preventing it from moving over any more so i can drop it out of the gear case side. I am not sure if i am supposed pull the whole gear case off. If so i have already tried and i cant get the bolt off the end of the jackshaft. I took the cotter pin out of the end but the bolt is stuck on there. I have been working on this for 5 hours with no progress and its getting really frusterating.

All of the ones I have taken out droped down from the clutch side If you have the snap ring off the bearing you should be able to tap the shaft on the clutch side and push the bearing out of the chaincase. That will give you enough room to get it out. Don't forget to put a new rubber seal on the chaicase. Hope this helps, I have no idea what happened to my other post!!!

The bearing is pretty tight, just don't screw the end of the shaft up from hitting it..

Whats stopping the shaft from moving over and not letting it drop out is the sprocket is hitting the side of the tunnel. There are 4 sprockets on the driveshaft. I still have to get the shaft over at least another 2.5 inches for it to drop out. I am really confused and dont know what to do about this.
