I know on my old fan, you aligned 2 lines in the castings on the pump to make the adjustment. But if I'm reading the manual correctly, adjust ment is made on the 693 by checking for "visible stretched distance" of the cable? It that correct? I'm assuming they did this on the liquids because the oil pump is next to impossible to see?
TIA!
Also, what gives less oil, more or less stretched cable?

More distance should be less oil. as the pump spring can return more.
should be set at 28mm according to the manual

Thanks. That's what I thought too.
Are you sure about the 28mm? My manual says 18.

Look for two lines on the lever, one short one long or they be the same. Align the second mark on the lever w/ the line on the pump. It will be the line to the rich side. Ie: the end of the lever that the cable is connected to would be closer to the point in which the cable is pulling when the throttle is aplied when compared to the other mark. Understand? BRP issued an update for this motor's oil pump setting.... this is it.
The adjustment is made by loosening the cable where it is mounted and tightening the nut on the side closest to the starter rope. When the second mark is lined up tighten the other nut and recheck. The carbs may need to be off, though I did it with the help of a mirror. Good luck.

If you have the manual for your machine then I would go by what that says.
What I was basing my 28mm on was the 700 engine in the 02's. Which should be the same engine as in your 700 04.
I could be very wrong though.

Thanks all.
Smoking is reduced as is my excessive oil consumption.
