I just rebuilt the engine in my xc 600. Well this engine started as a 580 and i bored it to a 600. It has SLP dome heads and I seem to have pressure build up in the coolant system. I bought orings for the SLP heads. I also can't seem to get the center head to seal to the head cover. Any suggestions on where i can get the right orings for the job and any cures? Thanks for your time.

I dont think the o-rings are different. You may have pinched it during install. put vasoline in head groove and place o-ring in it . Vasoline holds o-ring in place during head install. If you pinched the o-ring, it may have left a dingle in cylinder jug sealing surface. Seen it before.

Thanks for the info. If there was an air pocket in the cooling system, would that account for the added pressure?

I believe he is talking about the o-ring around the spark plug hole and the outer water cover, the only thing i can tell you is try loosening it back up then tighten down starting with center bolts and work towards the corners, and with the pressure build up to many guy's ignore the filter and check valve under the coolant bottle,if these start to plug there is no way for the overflow to circulate back into the motor and will blow out the bottle,a very common problem with an easy fix.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are small metal washers that go between the head and the oring for the head cover. Is it possible to double up these metal washers to help seal that oring?

If that's a 97 it didn't start out as a 580, but as a 597.

someone replaced the original 597 for a earlier 580.
