I have a 97 ZR 580 EFI. On the way home from a 100 mile ride yesterday it started acting up. When I put the throttle to the bar it will gain speed to mid range but then it seems to slow up just a bit and it just holds that speed (about 50-60MPH) and wont go any faster. If I let off the throttle and punch it again it will start to pull again but then it does the same thing again. Does anyone know what this is? THANKS

When was the last time you rebuilt both clutches? How old is your belt and is it worn down to much?

I just got the sled this year so I dont know when the clutches were rebuilt, I will look into that. Is the clutch rebuild something I can do myself with no prior experience? I am mechanically inclined however, I am fairly new to the sport so I am constantly learning. Would I need any special tools other then a clutch puller? THANKS

I suggest you take it to a dealer or a buddy that knows how to remove a clutch!
They can be a pain to take off. And if it need to be rebuilt you need to heat the spider till it's glowing red and a spider removal tool is needed!
The weights and bushings are easy to change, it's the rollers and buttons that are hard to change.

It was the clutch. I had it totally rebuilt and what a difference! Now if we only had some snow......maybe I should have bought a jetski
