Had one just installed at dealer. No real test, if you are getting no or intermittent spark its cdi.If your machine is hard starting and when it does run, it runs good than its the stator.

My machine starts and idles great and seems to have good spark but bogs bad when you try to ride. I have tried everything but the electrical aspect of it. I'm wondering if the cdi can't keep up under load?

It's probably the CDI.Can you try one from buddies machine before purchasing new one. They are quite expensive.Jamie

I will do some checking to see if my brothers 90 mach 1 uses the same cdi/coils.....hopefully it does so I can at least rule this out, or better yet, solve the problem!

I have a cat that had a intermittent spark due to the CDI Charge coil in the magnetto. Click to read whole topic:

If you're going to wrench on your sled, buy a book. Both you and the guy that gets to work on your sled next will appreciate it. :) - not to mention the money you'll save on the CDI.
