I have an xc 700 that I have been trying to clutch and can not quite get it the way I want it. The way I have it now the sled will hold 8000 rpms until 70 or 80 mph and then drop to 7500 rpms after that. If anyone has any set up that they use and works that will hold 8000 rpms I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Its a problem with those machines to hold 8000 rpm's if every thing is stock you could try 60's weights and an epi yellow spring for the primary clutch and a orange epi secondary spring. Also do you have studs on your track ? if so how many ? If you have more than 96 studs i would take some out.

The clutching is far from stock. There is a almond black in the primary w/ 10-62's, a silver blue w/ an r8 helix on the 4th hole in the secondary and the sled is geared down. I have a 21 on the top and a 41 on the bottom. Plus I have a HSP pipe w/ a MBRP Race can. There are no studs in the track. I have a buddy who has been trying to help set the sled up the way I want it but i thinking with all I've done something is not matching up. I have some 10-60's maybe i'll try those. thanx for the advice

sounds like youve changed to much all at once. go back to stock clutching and go from there, but let us know what it doing.

Yeah I'm setting today aside to putting it back the way it was. Hopefully I can get how I want it.

What are you trying to achieve?
Top end, bottom and mid trail power?

My XCR8 was doing the same thing this past wekend. The weekend before it seemed spot on. I'm writing it off to the conditions/warm temp = slush/way fat.

I want mostly low end power, but i'm sure the sled should still run @ 8000 rpms on the high end

I was thinking the same thing about the temp. I was awful warm last weekend. I think today before I try changing anything I'll run the sled and see what happens

I had the same problem with one of my 98 XC-7's over the weekend also, it would pull 8000-8100 off the line then fall off to 7600 and hold there at full whack, maybe this weekend at the PHAT MAN"S the temp will be colder and I will see if it still acts the same.
