We have a local dealer that has 1 of these 05 sleds left new in a box wanting $10K plus PDI (Canadian Dollars). Just wondering if this is a good deal or should I be checking elsewhere. Also, being the season is coming to a close would it make more sense to wait. I was also thinking about purchasing a Ski-doo GTX 800 SDI and was wondering which would be a better sled.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the asking price, but I'd say you have the dealer over the barrel with the PDI. There's no way I'd be paying it this time of year.

I don't think they make a GTX 800 SDI. The GTX 800 has DPM. The 800 SDI only lasted a year or two. They had reliability issues I think, due to excessive heat in the crankcase. I read somewhere that they need to design a crankcase with coolant passages. It was easier and cheaper to go back to DPM for now.

I put 2200 miles on my 05 venture this winter and was very pleased. You can't beat the comfort riding single or two up.I was also surprised when riding "off trail". You won't be disapointed with this sled. I believe it is probably the best all around sled on the market.

Check around some other dealers or online. I know the 05 Vector was about $7000 USD towards the end of winter with snow still on the ground. You would think they'd be jonesing to get rid of any 05 leftovers.

I rode one this year, and I was less than impressed. Ride quality was not too great, especially considering what it is meant to be (I've ridden performance sleds with a more plush ride), performance was nothing special (probably even less than what you would expect from an XLT600 or ZR/ZL500), and it had an extremely annoying whine from the track/suspension. But the motor was very smooth and torquey. Oh yeah, it also felt very tippy in the corners. Still want one?
