I have to remove the seat on a 96 couger to sew up two spots at the back and can't get it off. Are the seat and gas tank a one piece unit or does the seat come seperate from it?

it usually has some bars that hook on so you have to lift/slide in a certain way to get off. At least on Doo's prolly same on Cats.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, I think it just slides into the cowling and is a snug fit. I had to replace my wife's seat on her 97 cougar. It could though. It was a while ago.

I had a couple of screws on the bottom of mine,,, they are a pain to get out as they tend to rust and break. once they are out, the seat slid back a little but you will have to unhook your wiring for your tail light. should be a connector under your seat for that,,,,

Go in the truck you will have 2 bolts coming up through from the tunnel, take the nuts off and you may have to loosten the cowling and it should pop right off.
