: Important, Need Advice!
SLeD_nEcK 03-25-2005, 10:44 AM Yesterday, i was hill climbing with my F6 and it suddenly bogged right down till it stopped dead. I checked and to my surprise, there was no oil left. I filled it back up with oil but i heard running out of oil could cause serious damage. Can someone please tell me what i can do, check, fix, prevent anything? By the way, this is a 2004 F6 sno pro EFI, completly stock.
note: I changed the oil sensor update but the light never turned on.

If it seems ok now, I say hope for the best.* Aside form tearing it apart and inspecting/replacing everything, there is nothign you can do.* As a PM measure I would get that oil light fixed, plus alwasy make sure to physiclaly look in the oil tank while getting gas.

running a motor out of oil is the worst thing you can do to it. make sure when you fill it back up you need to bleed the oil pump.VERY IMPORTANT! if it shut down you scorched your bearings gonna need a rebuild
Rock Port 03-25-2005, 05:01 PM That doesn't sound very good. Pull the pipe and check pistons and back side of cylinders for scuffing. If it is as bad as it sounds you will probably need 2 cylinders and piston ###. Crank is possible, you will be able to tell once you are in there. I have yet been able to reuse a nickasil cyl on a F/Cat after blowing up. If needed cylinders call Adrian Bedard in Quebec @ 1-418-335-7220 ther 300.00 each. He does nice work. Piston ###. is 180.00 each. As mentioned don't forget to bleed pump again. I guess it's a good thing summer is coming. My updated oil sensor light hasn't come on yet either and I have had it as low as about a cup and a half left. That's not a lot of oil for no light. I'll be checking my sensor also.
SLeD_nEcK 03-26-2005, 10:49 AM Ok thanks for replies. Well i took it back out yesterday and hit 107mph and it still has the same torque. It seems to be performing fine, and i'm gonna check the cylinders and bring it in for a compression test to see how things are.

sounds like you got lucky this time, I am new to sleds but I always check the oil b4 and after I go out, for the time it takes to do it it can save a lot of cash....... glad to hear she is still running
never trust an oil sensor 100%
SLeD_nEcK 03-29-2005, 09:04 PM Yeah i think i did get pretty lucky. I think the engine jsut overheated before it completly ran out of oil. Well i've got my whole accessorie list ordered for this summer and i'll have myself a project.
