Just received Oct. issue of American Snowmobiler. For those of you that don't get it and ordered a Firecat F5, the numbers off of Cats' dyno is 102.4 hp. The magazine thought that they would probably get a few more hp at the top end if they had run the test at Dynoport..just passing it along. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Protos are written up as 104. What you get varies in any brand. Each company reserves the right to change any specs, and are not liable. You get an F-5 on the hood and that is it, for sure.

we're only talking about 1.6 horsepower! considering that no two engines run exactly the same and differences in air temp, coolent temp, fuel quality, and air density when these tests are performed, 1.6 horsepower off the advertised numbers are just fine in my book

Cat always seemed to be right on as far as H.P. Good for them. Others have been off alittle.

Cat been right on, lol. The 440 liquid Sno-Pro would have been 120hp last year if you would have added every years race department bragging of the Sno-Pro. The Zrt 600 with exhaust valves was supposed to be 140 hp when they were introduced, what did they end up at 120 roughly. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif

Where did you hear 140 HP for the ZRT 600? I never heard that. Besides exhaust valves don't add peak HP. They only aid in low and midrange torque.

From Al Shimpa. He was in total digust when the real consumer motors were pooching out. Al Shimpa was Cat's race director, then. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
