: A personal question............
skidoorider 08-28-2002, 05:55 PM How much money do you think you spend on an average snowmobiling weekend getaway? My wife and I have been discussing the "cost" of the sport and I was curious what other families spend to support the sport. Thanks *RB http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
For a 700 km weekend, about 120$ can. * That covers the gas, oil and lunch. I sleep in a tent when I'm planning a 2 day ride so it comes cheaper then going at the motel.
jwheeler 08-28-2002, 06:15 PM I couldnt possibly say because it depends on where im going or who im going with, somtimes $100 or somtimes $500 but i think the norm is around $200 give or take a little.
TT670 08-28-2002, 06:23 PM For both the wife I, we spend about $5-600US *for a very comfortable *weekend riding fri sat and sunday in canada. It could be more depending on where youre at. Theres no doubt snowmobiling is expensive, my wife has never once given me any grief over any sled expenditures. We buy 1 new sled a year, taking turns getting the new one. With the losses taken on the sleds and all of the other costs involved Id guess I spend between 5 and 8 thousand per year on snowmobiling. I know people who spend that on country club memberships.. jwhat a waste IMO.

jwheeler 08-28-2002, 07:56 PM Also normally when i go on an outing we stay at a cabin because me and all my buddys have cabins somewhere out on the trails.
Mikadoo 08-28-2002, 08:05 PM Us guy's never take the family [they tried it and hated it] so between 3-4 of us spliting truck gas and motel bill and riding all day fri. sat. and 3-4 hours sunday about 2-$220.00.
Sled Dogg 08-28-2002, 09:13 PM I think that I'll end up spending 12 to 15 grand this winter including 6K to build my project how I want it, and a trailer and alot of out of state trips.

POWERHAULIC 08-28-2002, 10:00 PM I live in a smowmobiling area and operate a sled shop, so it's just the gas burned at night on weekends. Shop is open all day sat. open sun. till noon. I usually close on thurs. when the trails are all groomed perfect, normally 4-8 of us go ride from home for 12-14 hours.
liquid600 08-28-2002, 10:14 PM $350.00 for a 3 day trip

jayjaysin 08-29-2002, 03:34 PM AC, you're the man! *Sleeping in a tent in CA, that's crazy.

US staying in hotel * * * - $400-$500 for the weekend
CA staying at lodge * * *- $800-$100 for 10 days
All US dollars
Saguenay Bill 08-29-2002, 05:01 PM 3 years ago I was able to go to Quebec for 7 weeks. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, in Jonquiere. I figured I spent $5,000 and rode 7,000 miles. When I had my place in N.Y., I spent that much maintaining it,(fuel, electric, phone, taxes, *up keep) and what it cost me to go drive up every weekend. Then I had the pleasure of riding rough trails. In 2001 and 2002 I was only able to go for 5 and 4 weks. This year I hope to get back to 7-8 again. Next year, it will be longer, I'm retiring. Then I can really get some miles on.
charlo 08-29-2002, 05:29 PM The groomed trail is about 5 minutes from my back yard. My famly has a camp on the main trail about 60 kms away. Gas and refreshments are the biggest expense. $200-$300 is a real expensive week-end, under $150 is the norm. Moving back to Northern New Brunswick was the best thing I ever did. Now if I could just get it to snow 10 months in the year... *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
SKI-DOO-U-2 08-29-2002, 06:56 PM I live 1 mile from a state trail that runs just North of Grand Rapids all the way to Cadilac then from their to Houghtion Lake *in the lower part of Mich. Our cabin is just out side of houghtionlake in Moresstown . It takes about 4.5-5 hours to get their on sled. We leave Friday night at around 7-7:30 between 50.00to 70.00 dallors in gas per sled 50.00 per person food (dont drink) come back Sunday afternoon. Trip is 350-400mile on a average weekend. so i'd say about100.-130. As long as nothing breakes down
hauler 08-29-2002, 09:11 PM $200 to $300 canadian for aweekend getaway!!!!
skidoorider 09-02-2002, 06:41 PM If it's me and the guys,I spend 150.00-175.00 *If it's my family300.00-400.00 . * * * * RB http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
