my friend has a 2001 mxz 600 not a ho 600. we know for a set of twin slp pipes but there off an 2002 800 will they work. i know some exhaust pipes will work with different engines but i don't know in this case.

My guess would have to be no, 800 pipes should be designed to flow a larger amount there by reducing backpressure on a 600 and lowering horsepower. That's if they even fit.

Ski doos usually don't like pipes anyway. They are set up and tuned to the factory pipe and muffler. I wouldn't put pipes on it at all, espesially if they arn't for that motor.

Care to expand on that? There is no question that a good set of pipes on ANY 2-stroke engine will improve performance over stock.

Puting any set of pipes on a skidoo will not nesesaraly give it more performance. I know a guy that pipes his '04 800, and he lost power and speed. Rotax does a great job fitting their pipes to engines from the factory, and you don't need to pipe them to get more power, like you do a yamaha. If you get a set specifically made for your sled, then it will help. I know there's someone that does make custom pipes, but his name escapes me right now.
