Well finally my ole phazer just aint gonna be driven next year. I beat on it a little to hard. So now im thinking of taking the engine out of it and building a go kart. The engine has a little over 8500 miles on it and runs perfect. Its just everything else that is going to junk. OK but anyway im definetly thinking of building a go kart. The only problem im seeing is overheating. usually the weather here in the summer is usually mid 70's to low 80's with occasional 90's. But i was thinking if i took of the engine shroud would that help it stay cooler. But if i do build it it wont probably be finished until the fall when its cooler out considering money and time i have. and it will be a 2 seater with some decent size mud tires in the rear and probably some knobbies up front powere by a good ole yamaha engine. Tell me what you guys think of this idea

Would think you should be leaving the shroud on to allow the fan to direct cooling air where it should be. Good Luck with the Phazercart!!!

Sounds like a fun plan!. If I had the choice, id try and find an older engine which had massive cooling fins , instead of the smaller fins found on fannny motors. Its to bad ur junking the phazer, its easy to find parts for it if u look for them. I know there is many junk yards out there to get parts from but iv never been to one and u cud prolly fix er up in time for next season. But if phazercart is what u wanna do, go for it, it shud be fun, tonnes of power too!. Maybe what u can do if u feel creative is make an air induction type scoop, like on the hoods of some rally cars and make it big so that a HUGE amount of air is passing through the engine. BTW, taking off the shroud would be the first thing id do too in order to make it run cooler.

wow that is pretty sweet but im not gonna use the snowmobile chassis im gonna build my own frame and just put the engine into it and its gonna be off road but hey that is still pretty sweet :cool:
