I am looking to get a car sometime...maybe this summer, maybe next....I'm not sure.
I am looking at camaros, firebirds, trans-ams...along that sort, something sporty, but not really expensive. What are good cars? I definately want a standard (absolutely)...what engines are in these cars? 305's, 350's? whats a good one to get, and what will be the average MPG of each type? Thanks for any replies!

P.S. If anyone knows where to find one or they have one, any info would be appreciated...

Will this be a daily driver? Or just something to take out once in a while?

I want something that has potential to upgrade...it would be cool to have a car for the rest of my life that I can upgrade at will

I'd look for Firebirds, Camaros, and Mustangs. For $2000, you can get 70's, 80's, even early 90's.

I was in the same position a few years ago, and I ended up buying an Escort GT. I couldn't believe how much I liked it. For $1800, I had a car in great shape with a spoiler, nice wheels, power everything, including sunroof, kick@ss stereo with CD. Plus, it was a quick car and fun to drive with the stick. Surprisingly, it had a lot of room.

Oh yeah, gas mileage was excellent compared to my Firebird!
