Good morning sledhead campers

Lets tourment ourselves for the next six months by guessing what date will be your first ride for the upcomming 05/06 season?

Relevent to the weather conditions of your favorite riding location.

Remember; a self induced, altered state of consciencenous may help with determining your date, but BEWARE that it could produce a hasteful answer. (highly recomended) :D

For those of us with new toy's, "Oh the agony of anticipation may be cruel and unusual punishment"; but lets play anyway :)

Date: December 26,2005

Area: New York, Quebec and Gaspe Canada

Sled: 06 Classic FST, 01 Classic 700(charlies custom polaris) and 01 Formula Delux 700(wifey's ride, unless the polaris pukes)
Yes, I did get my wifes permission to by a new sled, I promise!

Kids: Their old enough to pay for their own CRAP!

Good luck and lets have some fun--------Chas

i say November 23rd,

Area: Northern Quebec.

Sled: Pro x 2 800.

Might not be much snow around, except for on the lakes, they should be frozen around then.

Just to add more fun to this post, guessing first snow fall will be on september 26th. snow may not stay but still...

Temperature usually drops to freezing point around the end of september.

Usually get to see some snow around then.

Got to stop thinking about winter..........

This year, first ride was Dec 11 when we got about 6 inches in one night. I'm hoping for the same miracle this year, so let's say Dec 10. That's in ORillia, Ontario.

Well here is my guess

OCTOBER 15th
Hatchers Pas, Alaska
04 F5 Snopro(not deep enough for the RMK), 02 XCSP 500 (buddies ride)

I am basing my guess on last years 1st ride. My luck day came on Oct 9th and I ahave some pics to prove it. Come to find out we could have went about 4 days earlier, but who would of thought there would be good snow around that time?

what a great start lets keep it going.

Where I live in PA we see our first snow in mid November. It seems to be getting later in the season each year.

I have the "wookie snow dance" working each day so we can all have a great season :dazed:

Mileage:
Our group has "no mercy" and their not even "Marines".
The first ride of the season is usually 250 miles per day and my A#@ will vouch for that :!:
As the season continues we average 300 miles per day and we do that three day's per week from Dec-Mar (in the dictionary under hard core; it says to see charlie).
CCP-----------be back soon :p

I am salivating :sly:

Where you on the back cover of last November's American Snowmobiler?
I have a copy if you would like me to send it.
The picture is of an Arctic cat rider on his sled and he was feeding blocks of ice into the chipper to make snow :p

Flash:
Thanks for the thumbs up on the FST :thumbs up:
Your right, I should be arrested, but I work very hard to stay on the outside; "cause thats where the snow is"

The family motto:
Ride em, Wreck em, rebuild em and give the bill to the kids; then ride em til the skis fall off.
I just recently sold my 96 XCR 600. No exaggeration; this sled had 18650 miles on the odometer and there was virtually no center cleats left on the track. Talk about sliding through the corners

Oh yes.. if you want pics of Paradise, then mlabudda is the guy for you, he goes there alot. Paradise is a nice quaint town but can get quite congested on weekends.. If you can plan a week stay there you can get some really nice rides in.. We like to branch out in all directions and just play around in the fields and two tracks... The town of Strongs has some really nice play spots ( not to mention Kerns saloon burger) yummy.. Here is a pic of me playing around on my old formula in a place called Raco.. southeast of Paradise.

Budda (thats a great name) :)

Please send more pics when you can, Thanks

As I sit in my air conditioned office wondering why the IT guys have not given me a hard time for visiting SW while I'm at work; they reminded me that, "I am the boss". Thats right, now I remember why I'm here
Must have been a senior moment :D

I look out my office window and the haze (not self inflicted) is so thick with 96% humidity you can cut it with a knife.

I am not sure that I would know how to act if my place of employment was not located in urban America where you can see the air that you breath.

OK it looks like December 26, 2006 has the most votes to date.

How many of you like myself, actually hang out on your sled in the garage during the off season?

While embracing your favorite beverage?
And giving your honey the" you know look"? :inlove:

When she says" don't give me that look; your just trying to get brownie points for the upcomming season".

I reply, "but babe, I'll get all the things done on the honey DOO list before the season starts, I promise", as she walks away saying "yea right, I herd that before; CRASH (my nick name) SWRules

Come on be honest

Well have fun storming the castle
be back soon

My guess is the second weekend in Dec, usually in the Seney area but will travel for good snow. Just keep you eyes fixed on Mr Dees forcast graphics and start making some reservations as soon as you see the dark blues and purples shop up on the map. :D Here is a pic of our first ride last season just north of Seney the second weekend in Dec 04

What we need here is optimism for great snow this season.

I usually have enough snow here to ride the night after Thanksgiving. Probably go to Island Lake and back which is about 32 miles round trip. No snowmobiling during daylight cause it's deer season. Trails open officially Dec 1st but I like to push the envelope a little. So 11/25 is my vote. Earliest I ever rode was Nov 1st.

Sorry for bringing back such an old thread. I tripped over this and it made me think!! I forgot about the thanksgiving snow last year. I was hunting then, but now I have my new sled. It makes me wonder if I don't have to wait all the way to the end of december. I'm ready for it.

Hoaaaahhhh for Thanksgiving Day.

That is what I am hoping for as well. I thought that is when we went for a few years but to hear the Canada guys saying they aren't going until Jan depresses me. I am really REALLY hoping to go out around Thanksgiving and play a little bit.
