Corey Davidson, a three-time United States Cross Country Snowmobile Racing Association champion, will go for his fourth consecutive title aboard a Yamaha Apex RTX this season.

“Having a recognized cross country and enduro champion like Corey Davidson aboard our Yamaha Apex RTX provides Team Yamaha with a proven star who can bring Yamaha four-stroke performance to a new level of success,” said Rob Powers, Yamaha Snowmobile Marketing Manager. “Competition in cross country events brings a new dimension to Yamaha 'rough trail development' that closely approximates 'real-world' riding by hard-core riders.”

The Holt, Minnesota, rider is one of the sport's premiere long distance riders with three consecutive points titles in USCC's competitive Stud Boy Pro 600 class. Davidson also captured this past season's Woody's Pro Open class.

Twenty-one year-old Chad Gueco, who races for Pierce Racing of Greenbush, Minnesota, will join Davidson in bringing the Yamaha Apex RTX to USCC cross country racing this season. Like Davidson, Gueco is a winner on the Michigan enduro circuit. The Eagle River, Alaska racer won the Thunder Bay 250 in Alpena, Michigan, last January and has placed in the Top 5 at the “Soo” three times.

Powers concludes, “We'll run a stock-based Apex RTX in the Pro Open class. That's a class where you can make developmental changes that may be seen in future rough trail machines.”

"I expect the Yamaha four-stroke to be consistently fast and reliable,” Davidson said. “Yamaha's four-stroke has proven very strong at the Soo and should give me a great opportunity to win another title there as well.”

Great News IMO :D

I think this is the news that many of us snowmobilers have been waiting a few years to hear.... some positives, some negatives, but definitely everyone will be watching that 4-stroke this winter. It should be interesting, this is finally an opportunity to prove whether or not a 4-stroke snowmobile can actually be competitive in a world-class competition. That's great news, and it should make for some interesting conversations around the Yammie forum next winter....

Blah blah blah. Heard this all before an nothing ever came of it. Every year the exact same thing. I remember when guys said that about a sled that turned out to be the Viper. Some ditch banger that turned out to be. With the REV and the F Cat chassis needing replacing soon they better really step up.
