OK, long story short I messed up the spark plug wires on the distributor cap. I mis-matched them and can't find which goes on which. If it was a 4-cylinder, it would be easy. But it is the 5.2l V8 in the 97 Jeep GC. Even is the wires are on the (whatever you call those metal things that the wires go on) the wrong ones, the Check Engine light doesnt come on.

I'm trying to find a light in a tunnel here, and the Jeep needs to run before my dad gets home (6pm), so any advice would be appreciated.

ok, I have found the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

How do I know which it is?

I found the engine is arranged like this-

8 ] [7
6 ] [5
4 ] [3
2 ] [1

Now I just need to know the numbers on the distributor cap are.

Problem solved-

You have to look from the pass. side of the car over to the cap, and you will see the terminal marked "1". Then move clockwise around the cap using the plugs from the cylinders according to the firing order.

Whew- That made some sweat...

Well,the question is: Was is up and running by 6pm? :)
