trying to install a Tach on a 2001 and 2004 Z 370. What pulse tach is needed for it to work correctly on these sleds and what sled can i get a tach from? I tried using Tachs from a 99 440 Z Sno-Pro and a 1998 ZR 440. They work the they are off on the RPM's.

mudweiser,

I am not sure what tach from other sleds will work, I bought a tach right from my dealer for $109 for my '04 Z-370. I do know that most tachs are off by a few rpm even as much as 100-150. Hope this helps.

I would assume your saying i need a 6 pulse Tach to work properly. What pulse are the tach's from the 99 Sno-Pro and 98 ZR 440? Thanks!

I would think that it is a six pulse,
Almost everything after 1996 is a 6 pulse setup.
The only way I would say to make sure is to pull off the flywheel.
If it has 6 magnets on the inside, it's a 6 pulse, If it has 4 magnets, it's a 4 pulse. If its a 4 pulse any tach off a big triple 1995 will work.
