Hi every one... I'm trying to pick out the sled a want for this season. I"m looking to buy a 2004 or maybe an 05 left over. I'm thinking saber cat efi, or skidoo 800 sdi. Is there any thing i need to konw about these before i start looking. I need a sled that is very reliable and somthing i can put thousands of miles on with out worry. Any help would be great. Thanx!!! Jay.

First tell us what your riding style is, please....

I know I'm gonna recommend a REV, but I'm biased... :p ...the ride of the REV is unbelievable!

We need a lot more info... riding style, experience ect... I am also biased and would suggest a REV but engine size is another issue.

The REV is a good way to go. It would make those "thousands of miles" feel like nothing.

As far as reliability goes, I heard of some Ski-Doo owners that had a lot of problems with their 800's and 600's. (the H.Os, the SSs are bulletproof).

However, my friends dad had an '03 REVX 800 (now has an '05 Mach) and put 7000 miles on it and not a problem.

I cannot speak for Cats reliability. (but from what I heard the '03 Firecats were not too reliable)

I will say that your final decision should be on the platform. If you do more trail, bumps, etc., then I suggest a REV. Actually, I suggest a REV even if you just ride lakes. Try to sit on both of them, and make a decision based on how comfortable you are.

Good luck.

If i hadn't of already dumped 4K into moddin my sled this year i'd be looking at the polaris switchbacks (900cc). this will be a great all around sled.

If you want a great ride, good gas mileage(I mean riding all day without a worry about running out of gas) go with a 04/05 Doo V-1000. Its not a crotch rocket, but it will run all day and for years to come!

The rev is the way to go best ride I've ever had. as far as engines the 800 sdi was discontinued due to overheating problems, so if u see one for sale don't chance it. now from what I've heard 800ho engines are good reliable engines, but not a fact.

Personally I have the exact opposite oppinion on the rev vs fcat chassis. I personally enjoyed the Fcat chassis over the rev by alot. And, unlike the rest of the posters, I am not biased, I ride a Poo. Have yet to ride an IQ, so who knows. But the seat on the firecat was so nice, and the thinner tunnel is, in my oppinion a lot better inovation than the rider forward. After riding a Fcat all other sleds feel like you gat a size 15 shoe box under you. Also the cats are much faster, which runs most of my sled choice.
Good luck,
Wayne
