Stock spring is yellow/green, which means it is all green with yellow spots at the ends. I think that should called green/yellow, but it is yellow/green. the stock weights are 47.5 grams. Mine engages close to 5,000 RPM and stock peak shift for the 94 ZR 580 is 8,400 - 8,500 RPM.

My engagement is pretty smooth. The problem with lower engagement RPM's is the motor can get a little boggy. Remember that the 94 was the first year for the 3-port cylinders on that motor, it has big carbs, it is not meant for low speed cruising and slow, easy take offs. This is a race sled, meant for ditch banging and hard running. To make the engagement as smooth as possible make sure the primary is in good shape and same with the belt. Has the sled been upgraded to a Cat 9 tower primary from the original Comet? Has the primary been rebuilt?

I have the yellow spring with the green dots numbered 0646-147 and the three weights numbered 539-53. I believe these are the stcok spring and weights you need. Since your post doesn't include location I can not tell you how much. I would say probably $25.00 shipped if you are in the states. These are in very good shape I would say less then 100 miles on them spring is very clean and the bushings in the weights still look new. Kevin

The correct part number is 0146-526. It is all green with yellow dot. 0646-157 is the stock weight.

O.K. maybe these are off of a zrt600. Been laying around so long I can't read what I wrote on the bag. Either that or the numbers on the parts are engineering numbers. Kevin

I can remember my brother in law buying a new 94 ZR580 back then this sled was a big dog and a pig on gas. I also had a friend buy one the next year and this one was the same way.

We installed a Black Magic heart throb kit to the brother in laws and this sled came to life. No bog during take off and the fuel mileage improved from the stock set up. Here in Michigan we also changed the main jets down two sizes from stock and then the sled was a rocket.
We also installed these parts in my friends ZR and found the same results.

If your looking for stock clutch parts for that year ZR I feel its a waste of your time. Find a BM heart throb kit for your sled, you will be impressed.

I do have the spring, but its not in new shape at all,,,, I am sure the specs on it are not where they should be, so this one wouldnt help you at all,,,, sorry I didnt get back to you sooner on it as I was away for the week on business,,,,
They arent that expensive, so get with an area dealer,,, should be less than 20$
if your engagement isnt what you want it to be, that can be helped out with your drive clutch spring. You simply want a lower first number for a lower engagement or a higher first number for a higher engagement. Keep in mind, that if you go too crazy with your numbers, you will start effecting other areas of you clutch. I just went through google, d&d, and black magic and couldnt find the numbers off your stock spring, but I know I have them here at the house. If you are interested in changing your engagement a little, pm me and I will look up your stock numbers and let you know what would be a good fit for you,,,,

good luck in your quest
Brian
